"The Fleet" will do i think

It's only the noisy new boys behind the goal who refer to us as, or chant the name Gravesend. But I will continue to forgive their ignorance and fascination with naughty swear words, until their voices break.

Gravesend were minor Kent League side, who played on a recreation Ground in Central Avenue, when they joined Northfleet United, who at the time was an established and strong Southern League Team.

And ..... we play in Northfleet, so forget the Gravesend bit.

But one odd thing is that there is no such place as Ebbsfleet - Does anyone know of another team who are named after an imaginary location? I's like being Called Narnia United or Far-away-land City - a bit wierd I think.

The New Saints are a team in North Wales, who used to be called Total Network Solutions (Sponsership). When the contract ran out, they imfamously sold their name on e-bay, only for it not to reach the reserve price! So they had to go with a name that was like TNS.

They play in a place called something Llandidford or something.

Ebbsfleet is no more imaginary than say Rosherville or Springhead. I lived in Station Street for a number of years and used to take my kids to Ebbsfleet Park which was located behind Northfleet Station. Ebbsfleet Valley runs from Southfleet to Northfleet. The only problem was that it didn't have much else going for it. Ebbsfleet holds a lot of memories for me.

From memory I think this ran through the very edge of Ebsfleet Park, it was no more than a very small stream and I believe at times dry. As I remember it there was a very large water/sewerage/effluent pipe that ran alongside it in the park and as small kids we had fun trying to balance on it and more fun trying to dislodge each other from it as it was not that high above the ground.......or am I having an Ulrika Johnson induced memory disfunction ?

Ebbsfleet is not an imaginary location..it is situated off the A256 Sandwich Road on the way to Pfizers, for people unfamiliar with the area that is between Ramgate and Sandwich, you will find Ebbsfleet as you turn off for the Stonlees Golf Course.

So if we re-locate down here I wont have so far to travel to watch the Fleet grin
