Paul Axon

Margate have finally signed Paul Axon.

I was talking about this young lad most of last season, he was very impressive in last years U18/reserve team squad.

I for one hope that he does well as i like to see all the youngsters coming on.

Another one worth a contract would be the very young Matt Bowles (Goalkeeper)17 years old.

Names to look out for from the reserves :

Defenders - Albrecht, Anderton.

Midfield - Hindley, Hughes, Kecci.

Forward - McClean.

All were U18 last year.

Good luck Paul.

PS . any chance of a couple of tickets???

I too rated him in all my match reports when he played with Reserves. A shrewd signing by Trotty I believe. I saw Kecci warming up with subs on Saturday so that bodes well too.

Yes, all the best Paul, hope you got what you`re worth.

Agree with your assessment plus Chaz Albrecht (defence) who shone since returning to u18s last season. The one thing that applies to all these players is that they need a good run of reserve games to measure them by. Saw half these play v Canterbury and you could not tell who was u18 and not. Not sure how this has happened but there seems to be fair amount of promise coming through from youth. Said before, Margate need to take care of those who show some worth.

Good to see Axon has signed, i think that he could become a valuable member of the team, but we can't expect too much of him at the start i still he has a little bit more work to do before he is good enough for this level. I would also be very happy if Heath has signed as he impressed me last season in the reserves when i saw them.

Well if he achieves that, i would think he should be pretty proud of himself.

Surely thats a great way of learning.

He's only 18 is'nt he.

The lads done great to get a contract.

He's hardly going to waltz into the team is he.

MM How can you be proud of being a bench warmer and what good will it do him.

No one suggest he will walk into the team but why hype him up into something then just let him fall like the rest. Much better to have left him in the reserves and introduce him when needed throughout the season.

I'm missing a trick here then, but is'nt what you suggest BTW what will happen anyway,(and is that any different to what happens at most fotball clubs ) excepting if he has a contract, one assumes he gets a bit of money ,and equally can't just walk away.

I'm obviously missing something here

I agree Paul, can see him coming on say with 20/25 minutes left of the game and running at defences with his pace and getting crosses in for the likes of Haworth to nod in.

I agree TA. I think that Trotty will introduce him like you say 20/25 mins.

I also agree with Trotty's perception of Paul following the Bromley game interview that he gave - in that he can run all day long, but needs to channel his energy at the correct time and not chase lost causes.

I for one think that he will be a valuable member of the team and in time will i'm sure be given a decent run out.

Like "Taffy-Alan" i saw a lot of the reserve guys last season and i am a fan of the cheeky chappy(PA). It as sickened me at times to hear the comments of certain people. If the link with the Ursuline Academy is still in place we should have a flow through of good youngsters including those from the youth set up.

Last season we missed that young pacey player that was put out against us in the last 1/3rd of a game, to good effect.

There are more youngsters in the reserves who, if we can hang onto, if given time, will come through for us.

During the reign of the previous regime we got used to the go out and buy them if we want them system, (one supporter told of giving the management a name only to be told ( "waste of time if we need someone we will buy"). Who benefited "Ramsgate".

Steve McKimm gives an interesting insight to the younger players at Margate in his interview to be broadcast tonight. Don't forget, 7pm on www.margate-fc.com. (Any excuse, eh?)

I'm fascinated by everyones belief he is going to run Ryman Premier teams ragged in the last 20 mins of a game.

Ive watched him on numerous occasions for the reserves and he rarely gets a good cross in. Possibly one the whole game and this is against Kent league teams.

Does someone see what I am not seeing?
