Siitingbourene tonight

I absolutely agree with Joseba's ratings for each player.

Lets not carried away though Sittingbourne will probably be the easiest opposition we will face this season. They were a very poor side.Their first shot at goal came in the 5th minute & that went wide. Having said that you can only play whats in front of you & that Margate did extremely well. Lots of good passing, the best of the game coming from Harte on the right hand side of midfield to bring about a magnificent 3rd goal. Harte sweeps ball over from the right to the far left wing to Jacko (pinpoint pass),Jacko takes two strides forward & rifles in a strong hard cross into the area & there was Rob to dive in with a superb header.

My guess is that the starting line up tonight might well be that which starts v Chelmsford except that Smith may make way for Skinner at full back.

Coleman was my man of the match despite not getting on the score sheet.Had a lot of chances, fluffed most but was really trying for a goal & putting himself about. Maybe on a couple of occasions he was maybe a bit too selfish but overall he was my m.o.t.m.With more luck in front of goal & a little more sharp finishing this lad will get plenty of goals this season.Harte at full back excelled & McKimm really DID run the game from midfield. Howarth his usual busy self & deserved his goals.Bagley came on late & actually began attacking the full back, with some success too.Seemed confident tonight though he needs to continue to do that against superior opposition. Those asking about Owen. He came on late & definately improved from Saturday but didnt really have the time to show too much.Jack out wide had the run of things as J

Great result but lets get something clear here,Chelmsford will be an ALTOGETHER different opposition.

Good all round performance against a vastly inferior outfit.Job done though & squad now coming together it seems.

Great result & excellent football(no exaggeration when I say we could have won by double figures goal-wise) but lets get something clear here,Chelmsford will be an ALTOGETHER different proposition.

If i have read correctly, Owen has been out (injured?) for a year or so, so needs games, but if he is progressing game on game, could be a great asset ?

I think he is tall and strong midfielder which is the sort of midfield player we need for those wet winter month battles on mudbath pitches.

Is that a fair description of the guy as i have not seen him yet.

Mckimm and dean will be great in centre midfield, but through suspension, injury full back cover, tiredness ,they wont play 50 games each so you need 3 quality midfield players for centre midfield-the engine room which is where you control the game from.

Equally ,against top teams lie Chelmsford you may need 3 central mifield players on pitch at same time to ensure you win the midfield battle.

Its great having skillful wide players dancing down the wing, but if you win centre midfield battle, you almost certainly won't lose the game and with luck-will win the game aswell

Spoke to Yianni & Akinde both in person & Yianni believes he is still a couple of MONTHS away from starting. Akinde is very keen to stay & that that decision will be Trottys rather than his.I think Trotty should sign this lad.Again he did enough in his short time on the field to suggest he would be a major player as the season goes on.

Owen is indeed a TALL guy Michael. As you say give him another 3 or 4 games & he will be near to fitness I would have thought, enough to do himself justice. He will,I'm sure, fit in nicely in that midfield & be a good addition to the squad,if Trotty decides to hold on to him.

I believe my point about midfield is supported by the Dover game.

In fairnes, i don't think Dean and Mckimm were on pitch at same time in the 'engine room', but from reports it seems with quality midfielders like Wallis Hess, Poulton and to a lesser extent-Keister-that Dover controlled the midfield and hence the game on saturday.

Gotta have 3 quality central midfielders available at anyone time, and it looks like Jay i destined for the back four

Thanks for the reports lads, great to see Rob scoring again, in my books a great boost for the team. I was watching Rob warming up with the youngsters on Saturday and he really was having a laugh and chatting away to them, which can only help these young lads feel part of the team.

It was mentioned that Jim ward was at Sittingbourne last night.(Didnt see him myself). Was that,I wonder because his spies have all returned to his fold & he needed to eye up the opposition personally now.(Am not including Yianni)

Speaking of Yianni, maybe Jim was there to try & entice HIM back too.Make it a full house.Hope not as Yianni is one of the better ones to have come over here.

Or maybe he was just taking time out from the greyhounds(if they wee racing last night that is).

But then again it might just have been to see a game! Its possible I suppose!

Curious,thats all!

You normally talk sense to me but you have indicated on the RFC forum that Karl Barron might suffer with size but you feel axon wont Cookie? I know Barrons step dad and he is very pissed off with your comments.

I am disappointed we have let him slip through the net with his record IMO he should have been signed size is not an issue if speed is a factor I saw him deal with defenders of all shapes and sizes last season.

He might well get over it Andy but why make the comment in the first place. I agree with TQA on this one and think Barron would have been an asset to the squad but i'm not going into that again as you are all aware of my thoughts on Trotty. Going back to Sutter he is a good left wing back and I know he is highly rated by our 1 and only youth coach MW as a matter of fact he was probably the link that got him over hear. But imo plays better in a back 5 with wing backs as Ramsgate do so he probably shines more for them.

Cookie you do keep dropping yourself in it don't you. Karl was my star last year for the reserves and I can tell you those games are more about thuggish defenders than skill and that boy took it like a man and finished with class. The Lad is 6 foot plus and is as fast as anybody in the rymans prem and I can see him doing really well this season if given the chance but thats the key word "chance" so I guess he has join the right club now and I wish him good luck and thanks for your hard work last season for the reserves Karl.

I must say that young Karl reminded me of a certain Striker who came from Walsall with his build. It did not stop 'sniffer' Clarke from a great career even though it took a few clubs (Fulham, Leicester) to find one that trully appreciated his talents.

Does seem a bit of a shame we have not been able to retain him,but we can only have so many strikers.

His goalscoring record appears to be second to none-albeit at a different level.

Time for him to bulk out if he had to ,if he has the initial build, and yes you do need that physical strength in the Ryman premier-

Only time will tell if RT has got this right-KB may have wanted to leave for a gaurantted place maybe ,but if we could have offered/afforded to give him a contract, maybe he would have stayed and progressed with the 'Gate.

To be fair, where he has released players, RT has not got too many wrong so far, so maybe the right decision.

I say what I think.I don't tow the line because it suits others. I was quite complimentary to Karl I thought. I merely mentioned that his build,as it is now might be a disadvantage.Maybe he will grow into a strapping young lad & give everyone a run for their money. Good for him if he does.I have nothing against him at all. I merely mentioned his build. It is a personal observation.

Tony,I don't see myself as "dropping myself into anything".

If someones personal view isn't to ones liking then I'm sorry but thats the way it is & as its seems to be my opinion only, as I can only speak for myself, that means that the lad has more people with positives about him than there is negatives, therefore any hurt(though I cant see where I have caused any with my comments) are limited because its a minimal view. In time it may well come back to haunt me & being me,a successful career by the lad, would have me being the very first to say "I was wrong". But I stand by my opinion & no-one is going to bully me into saying otherwise.

As I said on the other forum & I will repeat it on here "good luck" to the lad. I Hope he goes on to prove me wrong! We will just have to wait & see wont we!
