Teanm tonight is :

SCS

Harte Young,Trott,Smith

Cloeman,Saunders,Mckimm Jackson

Pinnock Haworth

Looks quite a strong tem to me.

Winning 1-0 Haworth.

Others may be incontact with Cookie-as it is friendly, i thought i'd get score at h/t and 2nd half team changes plus f/t score as opposed to regular update.

I lied.

Post now afterall.

2-0 JJ.

All playing well.Should be 4/5 nil up.

Coleman playing well on right, albeit he's missed a couple of chances.

McKimm running midfield.

Young winning headers (pleases me).

Harte playing well

Poor pitch.

Sittingbourne very very poor-not sure what sort of team they have out, and remember they lost 3-0 to Ramsgate, although score flattered Ramsgate a bit apparently.

I won't post the h/t changes but on bench Cookie thinks are:

Barron,Bowles,Skinner,Akinde,Owen,Axon,Bagley

It may only be a friendly, but its just great to be getting back to the football.

Its close to becoming the real thing again.

Feels it tonight somehow .

(not that the club should be lulled into thinking that all of a sudden people will come flooding back to watch ,interest rekindled, and the world will be rosy again )

Credit to RT though to somehow assembling what starts to look like a decent enough squad.(still think we need one more defender even if Young signs )

F/T 4-1

Haworth and Pinnock.(Haworths another majestic header )

All the subs on-all played ok.

Should have won 7-1.

Still good result in my book regardless.

Cookie said Harte was particularly impressive

30 or so Margate supporters there (hopefully we will get some match reports )

Thanks to Cookie for the info.

Safe journey's home.

Also interested in how Rob Owen played MM. He's got a good track record. Why did he take a year out of football last season?

Also agree that it would be nice to get another centre back in. Preferably someone in their mid to late 20s who knows the role well. Though those players are like gold dust and I'm sure RT is on the lookout. Dan Young looks a find though.

Player performances

SCS - Nothing to do all night

Harte- A good solid performance with some good forward runs

Young - Solid

Trott - Back to his oldself

Smith - made plenty of forward runs and linked up well with JJ

Coleman - Cut the mustard for me tonight. Only fault was trying to hard.

Macca - Usual dependable performance.

Jay - Led as all captains should. Whether he plays at the back or midfield or striker should be first on the team sheet

JJ - He must of thought he had the freedom of Sittingbourne tonight.

Rob - Only disapointmentwas that he did not get his hat trick. 2 good headers.

Pinns - Customary goal.

By the time the wholesale changes happened the game was over so was difficult to judge thier performance.

Finally specail mention must go to Skinns the way in which he carried out the water bottles and bought them back was an example in brilliant water bottle management.

Best pre-season display so far and I don't think it's a coincidence that Jay was in midfield for it - I know he can do a job at centre back but think he's critical to the midfield, probably the best midfielder in the league. Rob Haworth's easily been the most impressive of the strikers vying to play up front with Pinns - done well every time he's played and looks a lot fitter than last season when he'd missed a lot of football before joining us.

Very good point re: Jay in midfield.

Always think we nee 2/3 more players:

Young, another central defender and pssibly an extra midfield player.(Owen ?).

Secure those and top 5 could well be on

Sounds like Coleman would be an asset aswell.

Maybe a 3 month loan for a couple of players until all the 'cup runs' are over so not to much of a commitment.

Can we afford them though ,and can RT then secure them ?

How did Owen, and Akinde play and did any of the second half subs stand out ?
