Where will your club be in five years time?

I have set up a poll on the Edgware forum, but I wonderd what other fans thought about their own clubs.

Club Edgware Town

2007/08 Ryman League Div 1 North,

2012/2013, Either defunct, or merged with another local club.

probably too many clubs at all levels of football in this country playing beyond their means.

The whole sport needs a shake up from grass roots upwards rather than bottom downwards. What it needs is a Pyramid-Czar.

I dont see clubs such as Edgware and Ruislip Manor being around for much longer unless they are to merge with other clubs of simalar standing locally.

I am not going to kid myself and say that Edgware are going to be fine, now the club have lost its home and will be playing further away at Harrow Borough, crowds are going to drop to less then 100 for most games at step 4 level.

A price increse to £7 is going to put off any floating support the club has, that and the journey to South Harrow. £7 is the ave for step 4 football, so its not the clubs fault, but it becomes less attractive to someone who just wants to watch a match.

If I had not come back to watch the club these past two seasons and become involved in helping them, then I doubt that as a passing supporter, I would be going to many if any matches at Earlsmead.

If I was NOW where I was two years ago, fed up with league football and looking to follow non league with a local club, Edgware's situation would put me off watching them, and instead I would have prob watched someone else or just not botherd with football.

I sadly see Edgware as defunct or merged with another club within 5 years, possibly a lot quicker!

An interesting topic.. Wader where do u see Bigg Town bearing in mind the current plans??????? And Robbie'O where do u see Bigg United whilst we are on the subject?? I think there is too many Step 4/5/6 clubs in bedfordshire for them all to survive much longer at their current level.. Although i recon the next Bedfordshire club to go out of existence will be almost certainly Barton Rovers.. Once the money goes they are left with nothing surely!!

Anything beyond the known facts is pure guesswork. The facts are that the facilities will be nice enough, there is good experience at manager and director level and there is ambition. There will be no money thrown around like confetti though, that is certain. The club will remain debt free and will have to earn its right to wage budgets and success. That can take time to work well in footballing years. No predictions, no guesswork, just head down and get on with it.

looks good. Isn't this the other side of the A1 heading out towards Langford.

Yes. As you leave Biggleswade on the Langford Rd, go under the A1 and the new ground is immediately on the right.

Plenty of work to keep the builders happy! (elevated A1 in the background). A little bit of the oversite of the main building can also be seen with sewer connections poking out.

Highways have had plans on the table for a while for that! Not quite into the car park, but new slip roads coming off the A1 (immediately adjacent to the new ground) running to a proposed new roundabout by the A1 bridge, just metres from our entrance. When they plan to do this I have no idea though, but it would be handy!
