After a tight first 15 minutes or so, which was probably just shaded by Ilford, the Aces began to get to grips with a tricky playing surface, and our front two of Gasper and Parker began to make their physical presence felt.

Nonetheless, stalemate ensued until the 35th minute, when a neat movement down the left flank resulted in a cut-back, which SHANE OAKLEY slammed into the top right-hand corner from 18 yards. 1 - 0 at half-time.

Almost immediately after the restart, RONNIE FLETCHER powered in a header from a corner to make it 2 - 0. This signalled the inevitable flurry of substitutions that so often disrupts the flow of play. Not so, though, in this case. After play had settled down, the Aces were soon in the ascendancy once again. Another neat move and cross to the far post resulted in a neat conversion by ALEX HARRIS.

By the final 10 minutes, all available substitutions had been made by the Aces and all the "Yoofs" were looking comfortable, including ELLIOT JUSTHAM, who pulled off one stunning save to deny the particularly foul-mouthed Ilford striker.

In the dying minutes, RICHARD HALLE put the gloss on the performance with a fine strike from the edge of the box to make the final score 4 - 0.

All-in-all a thoroughly enjoyable 90 minutes.

Good to see Dicky Halle getting on the scoresheet.
