Response to fund raising ideas.

In the past i have heard so many people say "O," "they should do this, they should do that, they should do the other". So i put a request on this site for people to put forward there ideas to the new sub committee. Other than June "Margatefan"(great idea) in over 160 hits on the post not one idea has been forthcoming. What does this show me, people do not have confidence in there own ideas (don't think so), have lost interest in the club (also don't think so) people just cannot be bothered (hope not). You tell me.

Come on you out there, put your ideas to us, "YOUR SUPPORTERS CLUB NEEDS YOUR IDEAS".

Whilst they are separate bodies, the fact that MFC cannot be bothered do one ounce of its own marketing ,makes me apathtic to assisting MISA.(also a bit distance challenged)

I apologise profusely where MISA may 'suffer' because of this; and its probably an 'own goal' on my behalf, but the club needs to realise its own responsibilities first.

The multiplication factor then comes in to effect.

MFC stimulate interest, Misa then do the same.

The sum of the whole is so much greater than the parts alone.Snowballs and mushrooms to everyones benefit

Through no fault of MISA, i guess you thus put me in the 'lost interest' bracket.

I guess thats another success for MFC though in their endeavours to kill the club

Hang on Michael despite the fact that the club seems to be having trouble getting their act together some of us care enough about the club to want to do something about it.

Would love to buy the club but not enough money but what I will do is raise money through MISA to use for what they see is of benefit to the club, watch matches (something as an exile up to 2 years ago I had trouble with)and be vocal with my support and drum into everyone I meet that we do have a team in the town to follow and publicise the club and fixtures as much as possible.

One idea I put forward last season was a raffle, with the winner recieving a match sponsorship deal for the day. This would raise funds for MISA and also plough the money straight back into the club. You could have one winning ticket with the winner allowed to bring eleven guests or 6 winners all bringing one guest. With the lack of match sponsors last season it would have been good income. A lot of people thought it was a good idea at the time. Another idea was to organise a football dinner with guest speaker. I even made enquiries with an agent and with the Winter Gardens for costs, which worked out at, if I remember correctly, about £40.00 per person based on 200 guests. With a number of non-league clubs in the area I'm sure it would have been popular. Nobody at the club at the time was interested.

Frankie, have been thinking about your post, your attitude is dead right and if everyone was like that in their outlook then rather than moan about things, things would actually get done

My attitude is you can't helps someone who is unwilling to help themselves.

At the moment I am on a low with the club for reasons posted elsewhere, I hope that this will change as Saturday afternoons were always a time to look forward too

I too agree with Frankie and also have a lot of sympathy for Margateshot, who I think is like me an ex-pat.

The problem though, with running such an event as he suggested, is that someone has got to guarantee a number of things before the event takes place and before a ticket is sold. For example, the venue hire, the number of covers for the food, the fee for the speaker, even insurance probably, and I suspect that this is the sort of thing that Margate FC or indeed any charity in support of whom an event is run will not be prepared to do. After all it is money which has to be committed and which could be put to use on their core business.

I do think that it is a good idea but also think that it would be wise, in today's climate, to keep such events on a smaller but more regular scale as MISA do and keep money coming in on a regular basis. At a guess I would suspect that it would take at least three or four months of solid promotion in the Margate area to encourage attendees to a more grand scale event.

One thing does occur to me, and this is relevant to the 50/50 draw at the home games. As I understand it, the two prizes share 50% of the proceeds. On Saturday, the Dover game, there were in excess of 400 people at the game yet the prize money was only £70 if my memory serves me correctly. That means that only 140 tickets were sold to around 400 people. Perhaps more encouragement should be given to get people to buy tickets for that - what about a note in the programme. Just a thought.

Late last year, or earlier this year they advertised Greavesie at the Theatre Royal & were charging less that £20 for a ticket (event was called off due to family bereavement or something).

My point is that at Theatre Royal they only tend to get a hundred or so patrons for their events. So it might be cheaper to book & worth looking at.

Another avenue that might work is that Ian Wright is involved at Ashford & Gary Stevens at Tunbridge Wells - someone like that might be sympathetic to speaking for a non-league cause.

Does it have to be a lavish affair at the WG? Maybe a pie & a pint in the new clubhouse would work.

Now thats more like it.

Interesting that it is on the official Wealdstone site.(are'nt they part time aswell ? A bit similar to MFC really

Thats the sort of thing our club should be doing ,and then anything MISA do is a bonus.

Personally I think any money raised should go into the reserves. Ask Wevs what he needs ang get it for him.Balls, training shirts etc. As for giving the directors any money (donations), after the way they've treated MISA. They wouldn't get a penny from me now! Blueblood I know MISA's intentions are good and well done for raising the revenue last season but what sort of thanks have MISA got for it from those at the club! MFC YOU SELL A PRODUCT AND WITHOUT CUSTOMERS YOU WILL CEASE TO EXIST. A GOOD BUSINESS LOOKS AFTER ITS CUSTOMERS. YOU DO NOT! THINGS BETTER CHANGE AT MFC OR THOSE DIE HARD SUPPORTERS MAY START GOING ELSEWHERE (except Ramsgit of course) TAKE NOTE!
