Rhodes how do you see your game going with Bedford mid Jan??

1-0 to the home side earlier in the season i pressume you were there?

McMullen - Actually I wasn't at the game in August and our Secretary penned the match report below when, from what I heard, we were robbed blind. I can see us winning comfortably next month particularly as Bedford seem to be in freefall at the moment following a positive first half to the season:

Bedford FC 1 Kentish Town FC 0

Saturday 18 August 2007

Spartan South Midlands League Division 1

Town travelled to deepest Bedfordshire for their third league outing in seven days. Bedford started the brighter with a strong wind at their backs making life difficult for Town's defenders to deal with. Town soaked up the pressure from the home attack

and countered on 19 minutes when Stevie Nicolaou headed just wide from 8 yards from a fine cross from the left. Town settled into their stride and the home side found themselves defending a lot more counter attacks, on 26 minutes Alexie Nicolaou had a half chance to open the scoring from a Jonathan Donoghue cross and on half an hour Nicolaou was in the thick of it again to break clear only for an over zealous linesman to give a harsh decision against him for an alleged push. Alexie Nicolaou was guilty of missing the best chance of the half to open the scoring after being played in by a defence splitting pass from Ossie Barkat only to fire frustratingly straight at the keeper.

The second half started very much the same as the first but this time Town had the gale force wind in their favour and soaked up all Bedford's attacking threat. Towns downfall came on 59 minutes after they conceded a free kick 35 yards out and a perfectly flighted ball was delivered to the far post for Chris Huckle to go unchallenged and fire the ball into the top right hand corner to give his side the lead, this was Huckle's last contribution to the proceedings as he injured himself in the process of scoring.

Town made changes with Sharrif Sufi comming on for Stevie Nicolaou and Anthony Dowsett replacing Alexie Nicolaou and both players settled nicely into their stride as Town continued to press the levelling goal they deserved.

Sufi was guilty of some poor finishing when a cool head was called for and Paul Butler saw a fine save from the home keeper

from a free kick on the left. A hamstring injury to Ossie Barkat saw the intoduction of Paul Williamson but time finally ran out for Town to level.

Afterwards Town Manager Frank Zanre said "we deserved a point at least, we grew stronger the more the game went on" he

added "we were guilty of ball watching from the free kick and leaving the man totally unmarked at the back post", "we will

bounce back from this but its disapointing that our two defeats so far have come from one goal when we created a lot of

chances and haven't been outplayed".

Town Team: N McDaid, R Dhall, O Barkat, D Dawson, A Onuoha, P Butler, K Fofana, A Nicolaou, J Donoghue, S Nicolaou, C Zanre

Subs: A Dowsett, S Sufi, P Williamson

That's why I took so long to reply as I was 'touching up' the report to post for McMullen for his convenience

Cec, I see Tony came on as sub.

A bad day at the Kentish office when you let that boy go. Have you found out where he is yet? I thought you kept a dossier on each player, so surely you can let me have his phone number? After all it's no skin off your nose now.

Wader - I'll PM you his e-mail address, I don't have his phone number. If you make it clear you will pay for his driving lessons from the outset he may consider talking to you

Thanks for that in depth match report!!! As i remember you were a very hard working side, and yes freefall would describe our form at present lets hope that i can find some players to compete at your 'pad'!!! You never know you may end up robbed again as deserving a hard fought victory i feel is probably not a sentence in your vocabulary.

I look forward to locking horns again duel

Were you at the two games last season when we beat you 9-1 on aggregate, 4-0 at home and 5-1 at McMullen Park

No i only took over in the summer and prior to that had always been involved in UCL rather than SML, I'm enjoying the anyone can beat anyone league we are in but think a decent budget is required to compete at the division above, especially with St Neots Town and Biggleswade Town paying good 'dollar' in the local area getting the squad together would be tough. What teams have a budget in our league?, Royston obviously and a transfer kitty i hear!!!!!!!!!!

It is only this season, as far as I'm aware, that Biggleswade Town have started paying their players, they're normally the whipping boys of the Premier Division escaping relegation by the skin of their teeth. As for our division Royston seem to have a substantial budget now as you say and I think Hoddesdon do, it has also recently come to light that Haringey Borough are paying their players and it wouldn't surprise me if a few brown envelopes are being handed out at Ostlers Lane too particularly to Darren Dykes. I take it Bedford don't go down that road like ourselves, what's the beautiful game coming to when you have to pay players a tidy sum to play at our level.

Nellie - Hi, yes sorry to hear about Borough today, it was a shock result after your wins over Arsenal and at Derby.

I was down at the Stadium today for a Reserve game, our First Team didn't play today which will give key players such as Lee Scott time to recover from injuries
