Cecil - my head's ok thanks (apart from the rubbish that I contain in it from time to time). The livers not too bad either. I mixed the scotch and pints around a pint and a bit of champers today, so kept it all quite reasonable. The worst threat to my health came with having to walk across the A1 to get from the hotel to the 'do'. It wasn't so bad going, but coming back afterwards was a bit hairy.

Rhodes - What is the position of the SSML on you as a Club Official offering odds in a Division that your Club is participating in?

What is the FA's position on this?

I take it that they are aware of this situation?

If not, shall I contact them for you to see what they have to say?

There is no conflict of interest whatsoever. Look at who the sponsors of the Conference are this season. All FA sanctioned. Betting and quoting odds is fine for club officials. Indeed at Basingstoke FC there is a bookies in the ground. The only NL ground I know where a betting shop(shed) is on the premises (there may well be others). I know of other NL grounds where a bookie attends and takes bets in the bar & boardroom before the match.

Simple, as NeutralFan has helpfully pointed out I'm no longer a Club Official but by all means contact the FA as it would still be interesting to know.

I'm just programme editor, all 84 plus pages of it, fundraiser, Lord Levy style, and publicity officer, spreading the gospel Worldwide, that's about it really.

That in my eyes makes you a Club Official.

You are listed in the League Handbook.

How did you get hold of a league handbook if you're not affiliated to a SSML Club

FA definition of Club Official is as follows;

"Club Official" means any official, director, secretary servant or representative of a Club.

You gonna ask how I got my hands on the FA Handbook?

Are you breaking any rules by offering odds on a Division in which your Club is participating in?
