This idea's recieving a load of press attention at the moment and the chances are their new club might be coming to Stonebridge Road, as Cambridge have spoken to them and ruled out nothing!

 

Personally, whilst the influx of cash would be a good thing, as well as the increase in fan-base, the concept of a few Football Manager enthusiasts deciding formations, week-in week-out, and the inevitable loss of interest as people realise that they're passing judgement on players they've never even seen, will bring the involved club to its' knees.

 

One of the creators actually admitted this was a 'test' to see if football fans knew as much as they thought they did- To conduct this experiment on a club which means a lot to thousands of people is a very bad move indeed.

It's an interesting short-term move for a club to get quick cash and press attention, but as you say once the interest has worn off and the experiment gone wrong, then it likely leaves a club in tatters.

 

Like that Football Idol competition, it's yet another example of the crap that makes for TV these days trying to filter into and invade the game. Football doesn't need tinkering or engineering by idiots who only want viewing figures and readership... it's lasted long enough providing its own natural entertainment, it really can do without 21st-century 'reality' and social experimentation.
