I'm sure it will blow over at some point. But for now it's all quite funny and gets all 42 people interested in sport who read it, talking about Bigg Town.

It's all about lazy journalism, constant sniping, bias to the other team in town and a lack of anything resembling the facts. That's what happens when a slothful journo who's been in the job far too long is allowed to dictate to his editor what he says and does. Frankly it's all a bit parochial and snoozy from a loacl paper for local people that thinks its the News Of The World.

Are you pining for Peter Butcher, Wader. grin

Haha, brilliant stuff.

Actually Wader, the chronicle is quite popular around Biggles and the neighbouring towns, because of its lengthy sport coverage. Is there any previous between the club and themselves?

To be fair it might seem like Utd are the 'pet club' as we actually won a few things over the last few years!

Can i ask what you won last year Robbie!? Also can you see yourself winning anything this year...!!!!

It is a shame about the chronicle though, it is popular in the local area! I cant see it being an ideal situation for either club or paper

Also Wader i read that the ground doesnt have planning permission. How true is this and when is it likely to be resolved? These things can take ages so could it be your in the ground later than expected?

We reached the Beds Senior cup final last year and the Hunts Premier Cup final, losing both.

The previous year we won the Senior Cup, also holding our own in the Prem.

This is why i believe the chronicle covered us more than Town.

I predict a transitional season, bottom half of the league, maybe a cup final as well.

I also heard that the planning permission issue is being debated, i heard the pitch is in the wrong place!!??

well yes....lack of appropriate planning may mean that the proposed multi million pound sports complex has not yet been passed but surely they haven't started that yet have they shocked

as I have already said..I have no knowledge of these matters but I am sure it will be just fine and dandy as far as the pitch and the ground is concerned......

could I be forgiven for thinking that you are hoping it won't be...? grin

we all need a home stevieG in NL and most of us rent them and some luckier ones with forsighted officials own them....BTFC own their new ground and I am sure it will be finished in good time...if there are problems (and I have heard nowt) then they will be of the usual red tape planning type that are easily resolved....wader is well experienced in these matters..

even if he is a bit overweight since he left the city lights... grin

Haha, overweight indeed at the moment. I haven't had my usual daily summer workouts on the pitch (I have seen the AFCH pitch this week and I have to say it is looking magnificent).

Mid-Beds are right to a point. The ground has got planning permission and they did confirm that in that Chronically ill publication this week. However, the facilities have been moved on the 11 acre site. Hence the need to regularise that. A minor amendments application failed because they said we had moved it all a bit too much to qualify under that process.

A new application is with Mid-Beds and will be determined at officer level next month. They are happy with the application as it is basically everything that has already been approved (we have no residential or commercial neighbours after all).

The process is of course time consuming and involves waste management audit and flood risk assesment as well as the usual gubbings of building control etc. The pitch has been laid for a year now and so is playable as soon as we are ready with everything else. Indeed, we took delivery today from Spain of our fully covered and arched concertina players tunnel as seen at Premiership grounds! (all sponsored of course).

The estimate for us moving in is the first week of October and our groundshare with Bedford FC has been determined around that date (irrsepective of 'the truth' - next year, 2 years, never- that the Chronicle delight in claiming with glee in their pages).

It is possible that not everything will be finished in the main building at that time, but arrangements have been made to allow for this for a few weeks.

The FA are happy with our arrangements and the ground has been designed for easy upgrade, but for the current Ryman Premier ground grading level immediately.
