[Urchins]

This was such an important result and we needed it before our trip to Northwood on Saturday.

 

Ominously, though, we fell behind in the first minute, Joel Maybury headed in a near post corner. Thankfully we were level within a minute, this time Kevin Jopson rising above the defence to head home a Danny Benstock corner. Andrew Martin missed a great chance to put us ahead when clear on goal midway through the first half, but we finally took the lead on the half hour with Danny Benstock scoring from close range after a Nick Lowery header across goal.

 

Hertford had much more of the game in the second half and after Paul Wood made a great save from a long range effort on the hour, Danny Fitzpatrick headed against the near post from the resulting corner. Hertford looked more dangerous as the half went on as we struggled to recreate our first half performance but they lacked the necessary fire power. Right at the end visiting keeper Chris Fitkin did well to stop a Danny Benstock effort which was heading for the top corner.

 

Line-up: Wood, Cripps, Fox, Gooding (Gooding 75), Jopson, Southon, Lowery, Cowley, Elder (McGowan 44), Martin, Benstock. Subs not used: McDonald, Kharine.
