Gravesend Riverside Festival

Went down to the prom today to see what was going on and was disappointed to see Charlton had a liitle soccer skills section where kids could take penalty kicks. Loads of people walking around in charlton's sponsors caps that they were giving away. EUFC were mentioned as having something going on but I looked out for it but couldn't see any thing. Shame.....

Looks like another missed opportunity to me.

As part of yesterday's riverside celebrations, the Northfleet Carnival snaked its way through the borough, starting at Springhead Industrial Estate and finishing at Ordnance Road, having gone through Perry Street and the town centre. It would have been great to have seen a float entered on behalf of Ebbsfleet United, an opportunity to further publicise the club and perhaps an opportunity to have increased the attendance at the Charlton game by handing out 2 for 1 coupons? or even free tickets to the many kids, many of whom were wearing replica football shirts of Man Utd. Tottenham, Arsenal even Leeds United so obviously football fans, that were watching the carnival pass by.

Just as an aside I know that we've handed out complimentary tickets to Guru Nanak FC (well over 100) for Wednesday's game.

This is really good to hear for two reasons...

1) The club is targeting children. They could possibly get hooked and bring Mum, Dad, brothers and sisters, and are each a small gateway for more potential fans!

2) The Sikh community in Gravesend is disproportionately represented at Sonebridge Road. Whilst this is the case for many 'target audiences' that could come to see us, there is no doubting that we are missing out on the vast vast majority of the 12,000 or so Sikhs in Gravesend. Maybe the club is looking to reach into this area of the community?

I'll say 'well done' to the club for this move, more of the same please!

Of course well done to the club. It's not rocket science to look around the borough and see where your target audience is (could of and should of been done 5, 10 years ago). It's the Gravesend Riverside Festival. We should have been there in force to market the club full stop. Well done to the board for what they have achieved, I know they are fans, great sponsorship deal with Eurostar but this is a big missed opportunity in my opinion. Charlton were even listed on the advertising.

I hope Social Services & Esther Ransen were on hand to give the kids with Leeds shirts on some counselling ?!

Cheers,

It's the Gravesend Festival not Notting Hill. We might not have the money but Jolly Dizzy the Clown did and so did..Freds Flying Circus as did Higham Street Dance Centre. All I am saying is that it would't have hurt to have a stall giving away stickers etc.. to promote the club (everyone is moaning about lack of support. I appreciate timing isn't good with new merchandise being available but it does p*ss me off seeing Charlton every where.
