Full Time 1 - 1

So we're still undefeated in pre season

Liam Coleman come on a sub

Chukki, Mark Ricketts and Phil Starkey featured at some stage.

Now we face Charlton who put out a strong side and beat the Gills 5-0.

A good work out for the team today against a well organised side. Moore showed bags of confidence to stroke, rather than welly the ball into the net for our equaliser

Pretty much everyone had a run with Ricketts, Hawkins and MacDonald looking good at the back.

Out of the trialists McPhee came on just after half time and put himself about to good effect but I'm not sure if he has done enough to get a contract as he looks to be a little lacking in confidence. If we have the cash to give him a go I reckon he might come good but I know that the club can't chuck money around. Starkey came on and showed real promise, I hope we sign him permanently

Just one downside for me is Sasha's lack of sense when he gets fouled. He seems to be getting a shorter fuse everytime I see him. You can't argue about his commitment but we need 11 players on the pitch and he will be targeted by sides if he isn't careful. If he is losing his rag in friendlys God knows what is going to happen when the season starts!

I thought you were slow to get into the game today and we could well have been 2 up at half time but we weren't and just before half time you equalised....

sasha as you call him was well over the top and you are right in what you say...shame as well because he is a good committed player..he WAS caught by amos but made a right meal of and then got up and took the free kick with his injured foot...all the while screaming at everyone including our manager...it was actually quite funny but teams will suss him out in real time and get him sent off...

well done today...some nice slick passing from your lot in the second half and they looked very fit as well...

your no.16 had the ideal of a friendly wrong. i can forgive the sheffield united overmars/kanu mix up. even if they feigned naivety, you still know that the match meant something.

this was a friendly.

your 16 saw our player down. your team and ours shouted to the fussy tw@ in the black to stop the game, yet c0ckface16 decided to try and have a little run on goal. if karma hadn't hit him and had him down screaming in embarassed and imagined agony, then i think karma would have been biding it's time.

that said, it was fckn ace to see a quality team at the bridge today, you came along and played football, which for a fan who a couple of seasons ago was getting excited over outplaying bowers and pitsea away is saying something.

that said. darren caskey takes an ace free-kick.

see you soon fellas. we'll bring more to ebbsend and gravesfleet than you brought to the bridge.

love and kisses,

treeboy and mentalist.

Why doesn't anybody in Essex speak English!

I think he liked us and is complaining that we should have kicked the ball out when one of their players was injured.

But equally he could
be refering to the worsening political situation with regards Britain and Russia for all the sense he's making!

I think you will find that the practise of kicking the ball out of play when a player is down is frowned on these days due to the number of knob-ends who turn out to be perfectly alright the moment play stops.

Hope your player wasn't too badly hurt. I am sure that if your Physio thought it was serious he would, quite rightly, have come on with or without the Refs permission.

I didn't watch yesterday's game, but it sounds like Opinel's second "wobbler" of the pre-season matches, wasn't he booked against Millwall?

Whilst you cannot question his commitment, you have to question whether he has the right temperament. I know he is favourite of many supporters but the truth is that in many games last season he was, in my opinion, a defensive liability, playing well through the majority of the game and then going walkabout at the time when he was needed to defend, over committing himself and/or diving into a tackle when he would have done better to hold-off,equally he is always liable to get himself either booked or sent-off. He has been around the Conference long enough for many clubs/players to know exactly how to wind him up in the hope that he does something daft in return and gets a red card.

I sincerely hope that Daish has had words with Opinel in an attempt to get the bad elements out of his game, if he hasn't or if Opinel has not had the sense to question this part of his game himself, then I fear that if he becomes a regular first team player then there will be many games in which the 'Fleet will find themselves having to complete a match with just 10 men on the pitch.

I think treeboy was trying to say that there is quite a large gap between teams in the ESL and the conference leagues, without being too harsh on Bowers & Pitsea FC. Also the post was sent at 4am this morning shocked

I do agree that the game was exciting to watch and reminded me of the FA Cup match v Welling United we had last season, but without the atmosphere and tension grin

I think you need to get your eye prescription checked, as their physio was most definiately female! smile
