Greetings from Ashford, Middlesex! Looking forward to our first game of the season on 18th August - I see you are bringing coaches - great! We are preparing programme notes and no doubt you will all wish to buy one as your souvenir of what is probably our first league encounter. If you write anything here which is quotable (and printable) you could see them in print in the programme. How do you see your first trip to Ashford; a summer awayday; life back in the Ryman Premier? We had to scrap all the way last season to finish 17th, but we beat Bromley at home and played step 4 clubs in the cups in Brackley, Maidstone (twice), Dover and Tooting and won them all.

 

We are easy to get to, just 2 miles from Jct 13 on the M25 or by train from Waterloo or Piccadilly Line to Hatton Cross. Plenty of free parking on the grass. We have good burgers and why not get here early for a drink in the sun?

I believe our first league meeting was in your first Isthmian League season, 2000/2001.

 

If memory serves you put three past us (including 2 pens) early on at your place, can't remember the result at our place.

You are right, we did play in the same division in 2000/1 - Division 3 of the Isthmian League before it was regionalised. I don't know the scores in our matches, although I am sure the club historian will have the records. These were probably the only previous meetings, as we were promoted that year and when you started your rise through the leagues you probably went the north route whereas we were in the south. We were then shunted into the Southern League for two seasons.

 

If you came in 2000/1 you will see that the ground has been improved since then, with bigger stands and much better catering due to a new building inside the ground. The clubhouse is being extended and redecorated.
