This is my proposed scoring system for the prediction league. I think it provides a good balance, any suggestions welcome?

 

Correct home score 1 point

Correct away score 1 point

Correct result 2 points

Correct score 5 points

Incorrect result -2 points

Monthly Winner 10 points

Weekly winner 3 points

IMHO get rid of the 10 points for monthly winner. Someone could be running away with the league (in a non-Kingsbury style)by November

I agree with KTFCSC and don't have a monthly winner. Also not too sure about a -2 penalty for incorrect result...maybe -1.

I agree with the comments regarding the monthly winner and would personally extend that to the weekly winner as well.

 

Which of the proposed scores are cumulative? Would an incorrect result with one teams score right be -1?

I believe they are all cumulative so yes your example is correct Eagles.

 

I thought the -2 would allow a bigger chance to reign in people that got 'lucky' one week? Even after the first week you can still adjust scoring and rerun the calculations.

 

Anyone else got comments on the weekly and monthly awards?

I've checked how the ESL are running their prediction league and it is a simple 1 point for correct result, 3 points for correct score. I don't think it needs to be any more complicated than that.
