interesting stuff coming out of the proposals for the conference breakaway....the conference league are pushing hard for the breakaway to be made starting August 2003....perhaps they have a good case for that...perhaps not...who knows...what is for certain is that if the break does occur...and membership applications have now closed....at least half of the teams in div 1 south and north will probably find themselves in the revamped rymans premier anyway....

 

now that could mean good news for those that don't make it...but what a kick in the goolies for those that do after such a hard fought season.....

 

another issue here is this...if the conference argument to the FA is that their Ltd Co constitution allows for unrestricted trade and a maximum of 66 clubs...then surely under the same argument they would have to accept applications from clubs outstide of the doc martins, ryman and unibond premier leagues....so long as ground requirements and financial criteria were fulfilled....a club from any league could actually apply.....interesting....a lot more to come on this issue....in the meantime...I wonder how many clubs have actually applied that weren't invited...............!!
