Team for Erith ?

I wonder if the suggested new players on show v Grays will materialise for this game ?

I guess there was the usual 'no 'Gate news' in tuesdays paper.

From reports, it does seem that we will miss Hockton's goalpoaching as it seems that Haworth and Side are possibly more goal makers -bringing others into play -than prolific goal scorres.

Not the end of the world, as if they get a few and bring others into score more, then end result should be similar.

Hockton was hardly the hardest team worker in the world for all his qualities as a scorer.

If we score 10 less goals, but more importantly concede 10 less goals, we may actually get more points.

Thats why we either need Trott getting in a quality experienced central defender;or use his (coaching skills ?) to get that defence so well organised that it does not concede.

Up front, maybe v Erith the likes of Barron may get a run out.No idea if he is any good, as the difference between Kent League 2 and Ryman premier is huge, but does at least seem to have a bit of a poachers knack of scoring goals. If we did need a direct replacement for Hockton on occasions is he the man, and let harlie Side be the maker of goals with his work rate

Whoever replaces Danny will have to live in the shadow of a bloke who scored 40 goals for us , will be hard for any striker to replace that sort of quality, did hear on radio Kent this morning that the Dartford players are pretty P...ed off with having to play this season in the Ryman North , maybe we could poach Brenden Hass if the price is right ie: someone could come up with a fee.

We will be ok-just play in a different style.

Will miss his goals, but not his work-rate.Maybe if Haworth and/or Side can hold the ball up for longer, it will give the defence and midfield more time to recover their shape.

Just don't concede the nil-thats 42 points straight away, before we even score a single goal.

Lets get the defence sorted this season once and for all,and the goals will still come from somewhere.

Twin strikers of Side and Haworth together will probably be more effective than Danny on his own.Midfield need to create as per last season-Yianni should help there, and we get crosses in from both left and right this season.

We won't win the league but we'll be alright.

Forgive my slight dubiousness here but RT was telling us for 5 months last season that he was having 'talks' with strikers, and while everyone else was adding to their squad, and RT did eventually got Haworth in March. We were crying out for an additional striker from October-RT said so himself.

This season, having effectively released, himself, Donovan and with every chance that sappleton would not re-sign-was it not very obvious from mid April that we would need a new experienced centre back this season. So why are we only looking now ?

Similarly-where were the new faces on show for the Grays game.

I just have more respect for people who deliver what they say.

Seems always a big jump for RT between having talks and doing the deal.

In fairness to RT ,where eventually- albeit too late-he has previously secured players-they have nearly always been good additions to the team.

Just hope he can make it happen a bit quicker this season; and 'walk the walk'.I wish him well.

I have no expectations of MFC having a promotion winning side this season;and and thats no problem ;but i do get very frustrated when some things are so blatantly obvious.

I am sure he would have loved to sign Ollie Schultz from Ramsgate but that was scuppered when Jim Ward stated wouldn't let him go to another Ryman Premier side (bit like us with Hockton).
