Blondie (I think) released a Limited Edition single, which had both the a- and b-sides on one side of the single.

 

This doesn't sound strange, until I explain that the two songs were on separate grooves that ran concurrently next to one another, so that when you put the needle on the start of the record, you don't know which of the two songs it's going to play.

 

Did I explain that ok??

I dug out my parents vinyl version of Parellel Lines the other day and I noticed there was lyrics writen for a song of the same name on the back cover. However, when I played it, there was no such song! Is that normal or is our vinyl f****d?

I had a single that did the same A and B groove thing but I can't remember what I was!

I once had a half size CD by a band called Smaller. Are these very common?

There was a 'mini craze' for them in the 80's.

 

You needed a little tray to sit it in so that you could play it in your cd player.

I'm aware of a Frank sidebottom album that played different tracks on either headphone, therefore doubling the number of songs on 1 record. Also The Flaming Lips once released a 4cd album each with different instruments on which you are supposed to play all at the same time(i.e 4 different stereos) and they pointed out that every time you listened to it, it would be slightly different...

There were the old 3" CD singles that were the first CD single format when they first came out and weren't so popular.

 

I also have something by Smaller, but i think it's a normal CD single

I have an Elvis Costello single that is 3". Very good it is too.
