Good season ahead?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

Just wondering what the general feeling is on how the new season will go now that there's been a few additions to the squad.

Is promotion/play-offs a reliastic aim and who do the bookies have as their favourites for the title - the usual suspects like Chelmo and Wimbledon?

Please give me some much needed hope as I'm on a right downer at the moment with my own club having only 9 contracted players with the season a mere 10 days away!!! (and 95% of first division messge board posters tipping them to finish in bottom two).

I assume the optimism is far higher down your way. Cmon the Ricay!

Well, I expect us to have a good season, yes there is some strong opposition, but then again, there always is.

On Paper AFC Wimbledon look to be assembling a very strong squad and Chelmsford have strengthened, but football matches aren't won on paper, so there is a long hard season ahead for everyone.

Last season we got off to a dreadful start winning just one of our first six games, and we lost Nathan midway through the season, so for us to take it right to the wire was quite a feat and should bode well for us this season.

One big positive from last season is that we were the top side in a mini league of the top six places so we know we can compete with the best.

So a few more points for us early doors, don't get complacent, manage to hang on to our players, and remain top of the mini league, and on paper... we should win it at a canter..grin

IMO, I think we have a stronger side than this time last year, even withstanding the loss of Elder and Whelpdale. All positions have competition and decent cover. We need a decent start and if we show the same consistency in results and performance as we did from December of last year, then we'll be not too far off.
