Well I was in Gloucester last week and was glad that we left on saturday morning.

Looking at those pictures there must be at least 5-6' of water on the pitch. I just hope they can get it ready in the next 4 weeks. Must say I founnd thier fans very friendly when we went there last November.

Agree Jim, their fans were most hospitable and keen to know how we were getting on re the stadium etc. Apart from the result, a most enjoyable afternoon!

Other news out of Gloucester football club this week, is that they also have taken on a commercial manager this month-formerly with Hereford,Wolves and MCC (cricket).

He is tasked with getting £250000 additional income for the club per annum from commercial activity.

(remember that Gloucseter are at the same level as Margate in the pyramid and about the same size of town)

Now if our man/lady at Margate can do the same-that would make a difference, and justifies any salary.

There is always a way.

Finding it not so easy, but there is always a way.

How many businesses in Thanet-5000 ?

50% of those are persuaded to contribute £100 in return for their employess getting half price admission. With 'follow-up from a commercial manager, that could be achieved

Thats your £250k.

You arguably lose attendance money-but how many more would come to the ground and buy programmes, merchandise, food, beer etc.

Not saying that is the right solution-just came into my head without much thinking.

Just illustrating that there is always a way-just need to find it.

At the other end of the scale, do we get the kids involved by allowing them to sponsor players bootlaces-let the kids spend £5 pocket money sponsoring bootlaces. The player (well the commercial mgr on players behalf ) sends that child a postcard everytime he scores a goal using'little Jims' sponsored laces. The child loves it. The child then drags his parents and family along to watch the game and pay good money.

There is always a way of doing anything.

could`nt we E-mail the club with our places of work so that give the Commercial manager a head start . This would only be ok to do if your BOSS agrees with it though , but if your the boss then it would`nt matter , also we could ask friends to ask at there place of employment as well , this could spread the word very quickly . Up the Gate.

Any of you guys down there go to business networking clubs ?

The commercial manager needs to go to a breakfast network meeting at least 4 times a week. Lunch networking twice a week.

Its amazing how qick you get connected to people who will help.

MFC is no diferent from any other business-get referrals.

Remember ,its true that you are only 6 connections away from anyone you need to connect with in the world.
