August fixtures

Horace - I wouldn't know, as I'm no longer Secretary of the Club that's not my department however I automatically assumed that was how the fixtures panned out so if I'm wrong I will happily hold my hands up. I don't really think that our games will interfere with any Athletics meetings, indeed they will probably double the crowds, I've stated before that the shot putt, discus, hammer and javelin competitions can easily be scheduled for before and after games and during the half time interval.

I assume that when there are Athletics meetings and football matches on the same day the gate will be split 50/50 unless we are of course playing Haringey Borough or your Club in which case we will probably receive a bigger share with the £10 admission charge in order to meet our policing bill and cost of printing tickets. Fortunately the fixture list has not thrown up that scenario as it would cause a problem if a Haringey supporter or a supporter of your Club without a ticket tries to get into the ground by pretending they are there to watch the Athletics.

I assume that, as the facility is being hired from the athletics club and not the Council (at least, you haven't denied this yet), the football club will have to find a new date to play. This is probably why Kentish Town have no home games in August.

You will also find that the line markings for the javelin, discus and shot putt take up a fair chunk of the football playing surface and it is not possible to mark out a playable football pitch at the same time. In addition, an athletics meet cannot happen with football goals in the way so there would be no goals for you to play football with on the same day.

They might use the distance markings from the goal line to try and emulate the markings on TV analysis when measuring freekicks!

I think the water tight proof has got a great big hole in it! Maybe this was overlooked when negotiating the deal! Not very professional!

Football Man - Well this is where you are wrong (again) as we have state of the art goals on order that can be wheeled on and off the pitch at a moments notice.
How was Cheshunt v Enfield Town last night by the way.

Not much use if the playing surface contains more white lines than a cocaine convention though, is it?

clip Rods - if you ever bothered to explore the other forums you would have known on Monday evening that the Cheshunt match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. Not that it mattered to me as it was only my fourth choice game anyway. But, of course, you would already know that. Or have I caught you out - again!

I think this all depends on whether we are allocated Ben Furneaux for a game.

Careful Rhodes! That's almost slanderous and I am sure a man of your standing in local football would not want to be accused of such a thing!

Talking of moving the goalposts, never has a phrase been more apt in the case of KTFC....

  • 2 weeks later...

Jonno - No doubt you have disappeared off the face of the earth again for a while but I have only just realised from the SSML bulletin I received yesterday that we are locking horns at Lowfield in the League on Wednesday 29 August just over a week before our eagerly awaited FA Vase encounter. It's the same night as Sort London e Benfica v Haringey which is annoying as I was hoping to get to Reynolds Field for that one.
