myfootballclub.co.uk is apparently very close to recruiting the 50,000 members at 35 quid a head which will sprinboard a contract for all subscrbers to vote on the purchase of a football club (possibly NL) the amount involved will be 1.375 million...presumably it will need to be a midlands based club to garner the benefit of 50,000 owners attending the match...

 

be interesting to see what happens if they all turned up to a game...

 

now if you read the article it all sounds very interesting and indeed groundbreaking stuff until you get to the bit about members voting on new players and team selection...

 

well forgive my pessimism here but what manager worth his salt will take a job where he has to play 11 players each match who have been picked by 50,000 fans voting over the internet on a majority count.....to make matters even more complicated the fans will also vote on the purchase of players again by majority count over the internet....presumably the budget will therefore be made public to avoid 40,000 owners wanting to buy david beckham.....

 

also what happens with the purchase of the shares held presumably one each by 50,000 owners...can they be sold and can therefore one person pick up enough shares to influence the votes and decisions thereby tendering the concept useless...and

 

if... by parting with their 35 squids... the owners have a legal and contracted right to insist on majority vote player purchase and team selection..I can only see a disaster looming that will probably end in court...

yeah i read that, i actually signed up, but i doubt very much that they'll even get the cash once they hit their magic figure.
