Billericay 0-0 Brighton

Recommended Posts

Bit of a mare for t'gaffer with strikers not being available for a variety of reasons.

Flackie has had his appendix out, but apart from that none too serious, but we were without:

Burbs (Holiday)

Morgan (ankle)

Boot (ankle)

Kerras (ankle)

Dorms (ill?)

As expected having seen the team, we were strong at the back but not all that up front. Thought Swaine and Billy were good for us, generally looked quite fit for the time of year.

Billy

Macca Swaine Heffer Blewitt

Game Hunter Hill Hodges

Abbott Poole

Subs

Mustafa for Hill

Wareham for Poole

Semanshia for Hodges

Buckfield for Mcmhaon

Morgan for Swaine

Mustafa = Tarkan Mustafa

Buckfield = Jack Buckfield (last years ressie keeper)

Morgan = Dean Morgan

What a relief to have footy back at New Lodge. I really enjoyed the game. Players all looked fit and sharp. Thought Tarkin

Mustafa was excellent. Is he staying?

It was great to see Nathan. Would have been great for him to score on his return to Billericay.

Billericay matched Brighton in every dept. Roll on the next league club!

(Billericay matched Brighton in every dept.)

I thought this also hence the score.

When i was told we had six players out i assumed we would have to dig deep to keep the score close.

But as ever the lads did great and looked very composed in all Departments.

Next please.

I thought it was an excellent workout in what was quite a fruity encounter for a friendly.

We didnt really offer much up top, hardly surprising in the circs, but I did think Paull worked very hard up there in an unaccustomed position.

Brighton closed us down very quickly in midfield as you would expect from a pro-side further into their pre-season than us but I thought we did ok in there.

Defensively I thought we were excellent, we do look solid at the back these days, if Swainey gets any bigger he'll be heading the floodlights soon.

Thought the ref could have done a bit better at the end rather than start carding everyone but there you go.

Not sure about Tarks, think he may have been helping Matty out as he only lives round the corner. Think he must be mid 30 s by now but still looks useful.

MoM for me was Swainey.

All in all a very encouraging start for us.

Quite a variety really. Young, Old, Rich and Poor; the normal mix grin

Gamo was MOM for me and impressed quite a few Brighton fans. They were also pretty complimentary of how we compared with Braintree, who they'd played in the week.

34 next month according to Soccerbase. I see he was recently released by Eastleigh, who have signed Warren Ryan.

Yes, when i heard we were without our strike force i too thought we would need to be mentally stronger at the back. However, i genuinely thought we took the game to Brighton and would say it was a very evenly contested game. Paull Abbott certainly puts himself about - (he certainly will soften up some oppo midfields i think) grin Agreed Gamo was all over the place, and Swaine was extremely competent. But they are only a few players and i was impressed with the way that team spirit is there in abundance.

Good to speak to Nath before - and he got a deserved reception.

Seeing the team sheet and all the absentees from it and Brighton having already played several PSF already I felt it would be a task to keep the score respectable which goes to show how well the team played on Saturday and matching a league side with several games under their belt is a great effort and shows the work thats gone into the pre season fitness work.

Is their any chance of Mustufa being re signed as he good game on Saturday.

Also what chances of the various injured players being available on Saturday
