Holyport - friendly

Recommended Posts

The match started abut 10 minutes late, and five minutes into it, Matty Miller went in for a tackle and left the player on the ground.

After a long injury break, where the player had a quick smoke, an ambulance was brought onto the pitch and he has taken away.

Hopefully not too bad of an injury.

Not sure on the time, of this...the text came through at 20:20 - "Stonking direct free-kick from Terry Davies. 1-0 up"

Apprently the guy was taken to hospital with a broken leg. No fault of Miller though seemed like his own fault.

In terms of players on show: Jackson, Miller, Davis, Woodruffe, Dennison, Mills, Duncan, Bizon were all present along with Metcalfe and Deaner.

Some good new players too, Rio Ferdinand look-a-like playing centre back was very solid along with a guy at right back who seemed pretty nippy going forward. Roddis in Center Midfield alongside Metcalfe also looked pretty decent.

Firstly, hope their player recovers well. He broke his leg whilst challenging (and fouling) Miller as he was about to score. Spoke to Miller and their player even apologised to him at the time for the foul. Led to a hold-up of about 30-40 minutes whilst he was treated on the pitch and an ambulance arrived.

I thought Jefferies and Davies amongst others looked lively. Overall a decent workout for the team, but there will be tougher challenges in the other friendlies I'm sure.

Tom Donati was the Holyport player involved in the incident. I have spoken with Graham Broom of Holyport this morning and he has advised me that Tom has broken his tibula and fibula and will be having an operation this evening on his leg.

I will speak to Graham again later on this week to find out an update on Tom's condition and I am sure I speak for all of us when I wish him a speedy and safe recovery.

Graham also commented on our supporters and thanked us for turning up and also in the manner which we conducted ourselves. We have spoken, very provisionally, about setting up a repeat fixture at the start of next season. By that time, Holyport may have floodlights setup at the ground, so we would be able to kick off at a 'more reasonable' time.

A decent first workout for the squad, good to see a few of the players back. Good goal from Terry, but I still think he should be shooting more from that sort of area, and less from the wings.

The same goes for me, best wishes to the player who was injured last night...it looked and sounded pretty bad, and there was a pretty dodgy looking lump just above his foot. Hopefully it wasnt as bad as it looked, and hopefully he will be back soon.

KT - seems like a good idea to me. Not quite sure how to best arrange it, but anyone who would like to contribute, please let me know and I will try and keep everything together and ensure it gets across to Tom.

To fill in some missing names from last night:

Right back - Dean Hooper - was in the Conference last season with Cambridge United, but played with Roddis and Wilko at Hayes in the early 2000's.

Some further information on Hooper is available at:

The centre back who looked impressive throughout IMO was James Apps who was with Chalfont Wasps last season and has also had playing experience with Flackwell Heath and Penn & Tylers Green.
