In a game which was surprisingly good for most of the first half fora pre-season game, Hertford took the lead on 9 minutes when ace marksman Kevin Cooper lobbed his good mate Lee Robinson in the Enfield goal. Hertford then enjoyed their best spell of th ewhole game , cutting through the visitors defence at will, without adding to their score. Enfield gradually took control of the game and they equalised after 34 minutes when Hertford manager Dave Greenwood, making a rare start, conceded a penalty and Dean Thomas, Enfield's most impressive player, slotted home the spot kick with ease. The visitors took the lead on 39 minutes when their no. 5, a striker, whose heading and shooting had been abysmal so far scuffed a shot from distance which somehow grubbed it's way along the ground, through the disbelieving home defence to that man Thomas, standing on six yard line Apparently not offside, he had the simple task of tapping the ball home.

 

The rest of the game is best forgotten. Both sides changed more than half their line-up, and goal-scoring opportunities in the second half were practically non-existent. A crowd of 70 watched the game, and Enfield were presented with a pennant signed by the Hertford players to mark their first game in their new incarnation.

Evening Paula. Yes, thanks! Pleasant evening for a game, and not a bad gate for a PSF (70), thanks to the Enfield contingent in the crowd. Had a close shave earler today, which I'll tell you about later.

It was a good game to be fair seeing as most of our players were new signings we done well! can see why you will be up there come the end of next season!
