It also means that their management & admin staff are on £70-80k a year!! (£120k wage bill minus £40-50k players wages.) Either that is a staggering amount or they failed their GCSE Maths

If I hadn't stayed away in a hotel after Saturdays neutral pre-season I attended, I could easily have bean spilt on here. Luckily for me I was in a Holiday Inn Express without internet access. God, was I hungover on Sunday - and the Mrs was worse than me!

I was at the amazingly stunning Shuttleworth College for tonights pre-season. The invited London team entered the thatched roofed pavillion to get changed in the scenic parkland and countryside setting with their mouths agape. The changing rooms are beamed and about 8' square, the away one with an old Victorian park bench in it. They laughed like drains and thought they had been transported back to Dickensian times. Simply beautiful secenery surrounds the grounds of the mansion and as a backdrop to a good match it was another excellent pre-season outing.

Yes I have to say that it looks like an amazing venue from the attached link, I wasn't actually aware there were playing facilities there and I will bear it in mind for the future:

Burnham Ramblers 2-4 AFC Hornchurch

Two early goals scored by us to complete the first half.

Burnham came into the second half with a long distance strike, then two quick goals by us again midway through the second half, with Burnham pulling one more back near the end.

An entertaining match and some banter to go with it!

Basildon United 2 Kentish Town 0, I only saw the first half as I had to take an injured player to hospital with the help of Paula who turned up.

Sorry folks, my internet died on me last night and I didn't get a chance to explain properly. One of our players dislocated his shoulder shortly before the interval and I asked Paula, who had only just turned up and was half way through a pint, if she could possibly drop us down to Basildon hospital. She didn't think twice about it and I said I would give her a little something for her trouble at a later date, we didn't even get time for any tonsil tennis which was disappointing, she dropped us off and then went back to Canvey probably wishing she hadn't bothered.

From my knowledge of Paula, I doubt the veracity of your account of events - if she was driving, she wouldn't have been consuming a "pint". I know you like to embellish your stories with inaccurate padding - is this such a case, and was she really drinking a fruit juice?
