Contracted Players

I have noted with interest the negative comment that has been displayed following the release of some of the contracted players. Does anyone realise how much these players were earning. Does anyone understand what it does to the changing room atmosphere, when you have a couple of horrible little characters damaging the spirit with their negative whinging. Ritchie Hanlon is in my view correct to release those players that don't want to play for the club. I am told the current atmosphere at training is excellent and long may this continue and let us hope it follows on into the season.

Perhaps people should ask which manager got us into this mess in the first place. Contracts apparently signed without option clause's if relegated and a large amount of money spent on one player in particular, that the manager had apparently never seen play. I know Gibson was criticised for not spending £2k or whatever on Benyon but I bet if you ask him, he would rather have done that than spend a load of money ( 15k ? )on two players from a lower division. Come on people let us all try to be positive and go forward together with a bit of enthusiasm.

Lippy wanted to keep Benyon. The chairman sanctioned paying 15,ooo for 2 players from 2 divisions below, it's pretty obvious we wouldn't get that much back if we sold them !
