Wens the Spartan fixtures out?

Recommended Posts

Until that day, it was 8-0 at Flackwell Heath. Kevin Cooper scored 5 goals in both games! ninegoals.jpg

Both your top two away scores have been recent then, most clubs have a huge win somewhere in their history, normally from years ago.

Some record that Kevin Cooper has got, have you had any problems keeping him and his strike partner Ryan Redford as they both score goals for fun.

I have scoured the club's results right back to 1908 but cannot find any higher wins! I did find an 11-0 defeat though!

Cooper and Redford were amongst the first to sign this season - Cooper is looking to beat the club's goalscoring record (216 by Dave Whitehead) and has 170 so far. A good season might see him do it during 2007-8. Redford is on a contract. He has 65 goals from 76 games.

I was going to ask if either were close to the clubs goalscoring record, I can see Hertford having another good season so if Cooper stays fit then he could get very close to beating it.

How is HTFCew getting on with the book?

I think she's looking for a little inspiration - no doubt she'll reply to you herself soon!

I can imagine that it is it very time consuming and hard going doing a club history, how do you decide what to add and what to leave out-over a hundred years their must be loads of stuff that you find interesting but you wont have room to add.

What would you say have been the high points in the history of the club, what have you enjoyed writing about the most? Have you had any players go on to play in the Football League?

When you finish the book, put me down for a copy.

The 60s were our best era - winning the Herts Senior Cup in 67.
We've had a few famous/ex pro managers, but the only player who went on to really great things was Ernest Beecham, a keeper who played for us in the early 20s and went on to play for Fulham where he was the hero of the hour against Dixie Dean and Everton in the FA Cup. He could have made the England team, but broke his neck (and survived) in a game.

Will do.

I see that Ernest Beecham is down as a Fulham legend (http://www.uf.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/fulham_legends.htm), a shame he got injured as that would have been great for Hertford to have had a player go on and represent England.

What is the highest level Hertford have played at? I know with all the restructuring other the years it is hard to judge but should Hertford win the SSML this coming season where would it rank as alongside your other achievements?

The highest we have been is probably 2nd tier in the Isthmian League.

The only times we have come 1st in a league were 49-50 (Spartan 1E), and 60-61, 61-62 (Delphian), so it would be very special to win this league in our centenary season.

I just read it...laughable as always. And he wonders why people have 'issues' with his posts.

Good luck with the book by the way.

HTFCew - Yes I did as someone posed the million dollar question when our fixtures were out, as you will be one of the first people after Phil Rolt to get their hands on them I thought that the another Forum members would appreciate the information from the horses mouth as it were. What's wrong with that exactly, you make out I have committed a heinous crime.

Well yes you would think that. Nice of you to come on anyway, I assume you have your feet up at home this afternoon watching the golf.

I personally think you have a good chance this season, with the amount of goals your team will score this season then I would say that at least you will be looking at a top 3 finish, if you can work on the defence then there is every chance you will take the Championship.
