Unless you're talking ONLY about strikers, in which case, yes, good strikers are probably not particularly abundant in pre-season trials but then I'm not expecting a 'new Charlie MacDonald' really special.

I think it a bit unjustified to claim that Daish's lack of top-quality strikers at this point in the season is down to bad planning, hit or miss tactics, etc.

I was only talking about strikers. The area that we look particulaly weak in at the moment, particularly after last season.

I am not suggesting that the above is down to bad planning but we all knew that Macdonald was going and whilst Sodje's move may have come as a surprize there have been a number of proven Conference strikers available since the end of last season, or indeed one or two local ones from Conference South or just below that could well have at least been approached (they may well have been for all I know) and bought into replace the two that have gone?

Its just very disapointing that for a position that could be key to next season being as successful as the last, or dare I say it even better, we are left with the hope that a striker "may be picked-up" as a result of finding someone in the pre-season trials and/or friendlies.

I take it you are counting Luke Moore as a striker, I think most people would consider him a midfielder, even though he partnered Charlie last season his strike rate is not that good for a front line striker,he certainly looks more comfortable playing behind the front two.

I have binned my boots now Dave !! And also being 20 years too old & 8 stones overweight didn't look good on my CV for premier striker !!

However, I will be drinking for the cause during the forthcoming season...and, indeed, was at the club to watch Le Tour, whilst sampling some of Rob's excellent Indian cuisine & supping a few beers !

Every little helps ! You know it makes sense !

Cheers,

PS...I passed my opionated b'stard and totally obnoxious exam ( for those who recall !) and, although it is totally out of character & goes against the grain somewhat, I am ready !!

So......watch out CG....I did it for you....so that you would know that I have an opinion !!

Have a good weekend all......

You guys have no idea how lucky you are to miss out on meechan.

Living nearby, i watched FGR regularly, and he is the worst player i have ever seen.

I would not even want him at Margate these days (or even in Margate reserves) despite how far we have fallen.

He is awful at everything.

It seems Daish is doing a good job for you, but you have to question his sanity if he was looking at Meechan.

He could never have seen him play.

Look how many other conference managers rejected him previously-he must have a good agent, but soon gets found out, apart from at FGR where he was a crowds favourite because he tried-so can i, but i'm equally useless.

Jim Harvey soon sussed him out though.

Believe me, you have had an incredible escape.

This time last year we had Charlie, Luke (who now doesn't seem to count as a forward) and Danny Ekoku who unfortunately didn't really feature.

This year we have Chukki and Rafa, two out and out forwards who not only have conference experience but have also partnered each other succesfully before. We still have Luke and we have Mark DeBolla, both Luke and Mark can play as attacking midfielders or forwards but I very much doubt that we would see Luke and Mark together in midfield.

I am not sure if we still have John Akinde or not but either way we seem to be stronger now than we were at the same stage last season.

A club email a while back said he'd been offered a contract. Strangely, this didn't make it onto the official website's news page, and there's been no word whether he's actually signed.
