I see we now have arranged a date for this game which is 4 days before the start of their league season, hopefully this could work in our favour with a couple of their first squad players being involved to pick up last minute fitness.

Not an error, this is the kick off time that Crystal Palace requested. They have advised that they will be using the game to play some of their first team players.

Its a good job i am an honest bloke as they initially rang me to confirm the fixture!!

CANVEY'S pre-season friendly with a youthful line-up from Championship side Crystal Palace was called-off by the referee 10 minutes from time with the soccer being accompanied by a heavy thunderstorm.

 

With thunder rolling, lightning flashing and heavy rain falling, a visiting player suffered a nasty arm injury when crashing into a pitchside barrier.

 

Canvey had started brightly, taking the lead on 15 minutes through Nicky Rugg's close-range effort.

 

But Palace, managed by ex-England and Southend United boss Peter Taylor, who started his playing career at Park Lane and was at the game, got on terms after 27 minutes.

 

The Islanders continued to give a good account of themselves in worsening weather conditions before the action was halted.
