The way it is going I reckon my old sunday league side Parkstone could have got in had they still been about.

you played for Parkstone !!

If memeory serves me correctly, did they play near Waltham Abbey ?

Yes indeed i did.... I was the playmaker (Repoman will support that I doubt). The Parkstone FC I am referring to existed from the late 70's to the mid eighties. They spent towo seasons in The Romford & District Commercial League before graduating to The Barking & District Sunday League. The club came from the Romford area and had the origins from a group of old Boro supporters. However apart from one season at Suttons Manor home games were played at the affordable Leytonstone section of Wanstead Flats.

it's an old apartheid term.....

black
white
coloured....

I suppose I should apologise again duck

You're right Greg. I brought this up with a few South African guys who I coached and they said they were coloured not black. I think they would be called mixed race here.

dykey is spot on of course...when I lived in south africa in late sixties early seventies it ws a real class thing.....almost like the classic two ronnies and john cleese sketch....

at the top of the social pyramid came the twin imposters of white afrikaanerdom and ex colonial whites...next came the cape coloureds or hottentots who were the descendents of the early dutch setlers and their black partners (this class included asian immigrants also) with restricted priviledges...then came the superior black race... the zulus... with even less priviledges and lastly in the pecking order came the bantu tribsmen from the transkye homelands and beyond...with no privilidges....

everyone looked down on the class below them....

apartheid was a terrible evil thing and to live amongst it was a harsh lesson for us young cocky brits to learn...a three year jail sentence for sleeping with anyone of mixed or black race.....

fck me its a wonder we aint still in jail... grin

This is obviously some new use of the term playmaker with which I was not previously familiar, whereas I was on occasions a goalkeeper, full back, midfield lump or forward, secretary, manager, treasurer, chairman, provider of corner flags and kit.
