One For Rhodes!!

Recommended Posts

As another tribute to our former Deputy Chairman, Stewart Edwards, who died on 13th February 2006, by popular request from those people who took part last year Hoddesdon Town Football Club is holding a second Charity Football Match at Lowfield on Sunday 7th October, kick off at 4 pm. All proceeds will go to the Charity being supported this year by the Mayor of the Borough of Broxbourne, The Isabel Hospice in Welwyn Garden City. The game at Lowfield will be:

A HODDESDON TOWN PAST XI

v

ANOTHER HODDESDON TOWN PAST XI

Both squads will include many of the players who got to know Stewart well during their stay with the Club, and we are looking for at least thirty former players to come along. The full squad of players expected to take part will be announced by the beginning of September.

Entrance will be £5 with a souvenir Programme and there will be a raffle for a star prize to be announced nearer the date. Please come along to support this worthy cause and renew acquaintances with the Hoddesdon stars of the late eighties and early nineties. The kick-off time may be changed depending on the Premiership games being played that day, and plenty of notice of any change will be given. It would be another fitting tribute to Stewart and everything he did for the Club if we could better the £1050 raised last year to present to the Isabel Hospice and help further their fantastic work.

Anyone wishing to take part please contact either JIM BRIGGS on 01992 468888 or STUART PARKER on 01992 639948. The more former players who come along the better.

So where u playing this year then? Staying put or open to persuasion? grin

We got SkyTV, fruity, pool table and juke box this year! And if that don't sway it, I can always have a word with some of our female officials with regards to some 'favours'......

Jane Sinden, Jenny Merton, Jean Briggs..... how's that for talent?? Plus we've also got a groundbreaking agreement with the cricket club this year, meaning we can play games in August at Lowfield. It was always a real pain in the butt having to play away for the first 3 weeks of the season, particularly in the big cup competitions like the vase and the fa cup. Never felt like we had a base at the start of the season, more like a nomadic team with no ground, much like KTFC in the late 2000's!! But we are drawn at home to KTFC this year in September anyway.

Talkin of the CC, me and Neil are putting on a Ryder Cup style Golf day with the CC. We have had word from the chairman that we better bloody win it!! So with that in mind, we are open to playing ringers if anyone fancies it!!

Does Jane envisage another close battle on the programme front next season and reclaiming the SSML award crown you surprisingly lost this season, has she got over the shock and disappointment yet.
