HARROW BOROUGH SAVE EDGWARE TOWN!

Recommended Posts

My only concren would be the distance. Earlsmead in in South Harrow which is a fair distance from Edgware. Will the 100 or so fans be prepared to travel that far every other week? Hope it all works out well though.

..
It's hardly the other end of the world from Edgware, and in any case a number of Edgware fans and players live outside what is Edgware.

For me personally it means 1 more bus journey, and a 10 min walk to Earlsmead, prob putting an extra 30 mins on traveling time.

I am sure those who wish to see the club sucseed will get behind this move.

I genuinely hope you are right. I used to rep over in that area a few years ago and the traffic between Harrow and Edgware can be a nightmare. Die-hard fans like you will, naturally, travel an extra 30 mins to see your team. However, it is the lose of the more casual fan who, for example, comes along when their profesisonal club is away from home that may affect gates. Once again, I hope I am wrong and Edgware go from strength to strength (as long as this is not at the expense of ETFC!!).

The train stations are a long walk off, but as you say there are buses and this news is a million percent better than last weeks. I know Peter, he is a decent guy and they will look after you. This is probably a better result than Wealdstones is sharing at 'the graveyard'

I agree that some casual fans may be put off but as I said its hardly a big scarifice.

For eg, I dont have a car, so I use public transport, at present my journey to the White Lion Ground involves a 5 min walk up the road to the bus stop to catch either a 142 or a 32 from the junction of West Hendon / Colindale (The Hyde) to opposite the WLG, travel time is usually about 15 mins.

I will now have the same distance walk but to a different bus stop to catch a 183 ( service) to Harrow bus Station, journey should take around 30 mins then a bus to South Harrow, around 15 mins, with a 10 min walk from the bus stop to the ground, all in all, about an hour if you include waiting times.

So in my case an extra 45 mins approx for home matches, not a big deal really, and with an Oster card, only a couple of quid more.

Well Edgware Town! But although this is good news, what if Harrow Borough wasn't available?

I think we should still push with this petition as other clubs may find themselves in the same predicament.

After all, if you had a choice what would you choose. Staying put or sharing with Harrow Borough? Why should you have to move?

I agree Eagles, but its better then having no team at all this season and at least the players get their chance to play in a higher divison as they deserve after last season.

As the statement says the club hope to look at other options to own their own ground, I know many teams going into groundshares have said that, and ended up playing for years with no home, but right now I am happy the club have been saved.

Gavin

But what I'm saying is that's it's only a matter of time before there is another FC in the same scenario and we should try and protect them by getting central government involved.

Now's the time to do it. With elections looming. Just imagine 10,000 signatures in the space of a month, what an impact that might have?

No one wants to see clubs fold, but the government won't stick a blanket ban on developing sports grounds and playing fields. There are systems in place to take care of the individual cases.

That petition site is a bit of a standing joke, I don't think it does any good, sorry eagles.

The main thing is for clubs to ensure their own futures by getting a secure home ground and sensible budgeting.

Good news for Edgware and all their supporters. The 114 bus goes from Burnt Oak Station (just up the road from the WLG) is the bus to get to Harrow Borough FC on. It stops at the main road about 5-10 minutes from the ground.

HARROW BOROUGH

TO RESCUE THE WARES

Peter Rogers, chairman of Harrow Borough Football Club has today confirmed that Edgware Town will be offered a ground share agreement for next season at their Earlsmead Stadium. This will allow Edgware to compete in RymansDivision One North and the Cup competitions. This is great news for the players, supporters and officials of the club.

We need everyone to rally round and support the club so that we can progress next season and wfind a new home for the Wares.

We will need to re-arrange some of the pre-season fixtures, these will still be played at the White Lion ...........watch this space

Thanks Lato, I did not think about the 114, I am going to try out both routes and then decide which one I prefer.
