analysis/definition from wordnet

bullying (n.) the act of intimidating a weaker person to make them do something

bullying (adj.) noisily domineering : tending to browbeat others

for the sake of good relations I would like to apologise for saying "bordering on bullying" sorry eagles.

dont really follow the rest of your scattergun post though.

Id still like to know why Edgware were made homeless when they had a four year lease.

I am not having a dig at anyone , I wonder how it happened.

Me neither particularly the bit about me trying to influence people and me not being a good role model, I can't see where he's coming from at all.

This was the official notice from Edgware

With the recent purchase of the ground by Barratt Homes and the grant of planning permission by Harrow Council our main sponsor and benefactor has decided to withdraw their support with immediate effect, putting our lease of the White Lion ground in jeopardy.

It doesnt say they have been or will be evicted.

This is the start of the petition detail

Edgware Town FC has been the latest victim of being evicted from their ground.

I keep asking why Edgware had to leave their ground when they had a lease?

Were they issued with a six month eviction notice which would worry every club greatly who think they have security of tenure?

Who has owned the ground recently and who were Edgwares landlords?

TheSpursFan - All it really says in last Sunday's Non League paper is that "the Club were the ground's leaseholder and would have had to vacate the ground by December, with no alternative site or groundsharing agreement available the Club has been forced to withdraw from the League". My assumption is that their lease at the White Lion expires in December and that Edgware have been trying to negotiate an extension to it for a while without success. Perhaps Gavin can confirm as I'm only guessing.

Yes it's all somewhat of a mystery, the article goes on to say that "the sudden news came as a dramatic blow to the Club just months after enjoying their most successful ever season". Surely someone at the Club knew how long was left on the lease and therefore it wasn't a total bolt out of the blue, perhaps the Club didn't make it clear to the Ryman League that their lease was due to expire in December and hoped that it would all come out in the wash before the start of the season. Hopefully Gavin will come on soon to throw some light for us.

I don't know, obviously I'm not suggesting anything untoward on Edgware's part but Club's have been know to try and pull the wool and wouldn't the Ryman League have just simply assumed that there would be no problems with the White Lion Ground without thinking to ask the question following Edgware's promotion. I mean you don't automatically assume a lease is due to expire unless it is flagged up to you.

Obviously our Club are whiter than white however due to the vicious and unfounded rumours Football Man, and to a lesser degree Horace, regularly spreads on here there is unfortunately some doubt in people's eyes. Why else would NeutralFan make the post he did.

Thanks for that, I had a feeling you would know. Out of morbid curiosity what is your take on the events at the White Lion Ground over the last week, surely it can't have been a total bolt out of the blue to Edgware as was suggested in the Non League paper on Sunday.

Thats backing up something I read elsewhere, that the club had about a four year lease.

So I wonder if they are being evicted(and why and by who),and what happened to their security of tenure.

Why do they have to leave the ground in December and why has it apparently just come to light?

I understand planning permission has recently been given to build but before we all petition the government and blame the council perhaps we could find out a bit of background.

TheSpursFan - Yes these are questions that Eagles1981 should have asked and clarified first before starting the petition, I'm impressed by your thorough approach and take my hat off to you.

I don't believe that you will get any information on here from Edgware - Gavin isn't party to the club's more private matters. And it is that - private. Why should the club explain for our benefit what has happened?

Like many clubs, Edgware sold their soul to the devil at some point in the past in order to finance their activities, and the current administration has been left to pick up the pieces. We should applaud them for keeping the club going, not start a witch-hunt as to why they lost their ground.

I refer Rhodes to what I wrote earlier on on this thread:
"The petition isn't just about Edgware Town - it's about every council controlled playing field. Even Copthall Stadium!"

He must have read it, it was addressed to him! Dementure kicking in again! freak
