Another Club Bites The Dust

The statement rather puzzles me. The stadium has been owned by Barrett Homes for a few years now, which is why Wealdstone got out of there because of the dodgy tenure on the lease. Given that is the case, surely it would have been sensible to at least explore groundsharing options before now.

Obviously it is a sad day for those connected to the club and I would hope that somehow or other football will continue in Edgware.

Edgware is such a [****!!****]-hole, it needs community spaces like the football club rather than more lego homes. I really like the ground and the massive club house. Last season was also there best in their history, winning the treble, yet crowds barely rose above 100; clubs really have to treble their efforts to get people through the gates, but as we know football grounds are ripe for greedy developers.

Personally I think there should be rules on safeguarding footie stadiums.

wotcha mate.....about time someone except me raised the questions...its not the greedy developers as promoted by the pinko from the pavilion that need watching...

its the greedy fckers sitting on the freeholds/leases/in boardrooms...as without them the developers can't do it..

I fckn despair sometimes at the naivity of it all...

nice comment about edgware from the pavilion end by the way...brightons the biggest shitehole I have ever sadly seen... grin

It just seems strange to me that the land was owned by developers, the council were being talked to for a long time by developers about getting planning permission, and they seemingly did not see this coming. And to make matters more confusing, they took an awful lot of money from Galliard Homes as their main sponsor - now if you're a club on the brink of being chucked out of your 'home' it seems very odd to me to have another developer being friendly with you.

Ho hum. I hope something is worked out for the club, but really it didn't need to take a genius to see this was coming

Now it seems Edgware have managed a groundshare deal with Harrow. Good luck to them and I am pleased that by the looks of it they will be able to continue - but it does seem more than a little peculiar that from several days ago they were saying the club was folding because they could not afford to groundshare anywhere, to announcing a deal at Harrow a few days later. Harrow weren't exactly offering us charity a few years ago and they certainly didn't do so for Wealdstone either

Shame about Slimbridge but really just a bunch of pikeys who had ideas well above their station. Hostile fans as well. Cleeve have picked up a few from the fall out, including one who left to join Slimbridge last summer for a few quid more rather than step up a level. Never rated him anyway. Cleeve are my second team as 10 mins up lanes from home. See you at AGM, yes am coming up, must be mad.
