Edgware Town FC 1939-2007 RIP

Recommended Posts

Gavin - There is quite a bit on the Hendon Messageboard about your predicament, they want to know whether the friendly on 9 August is definitely off:

Negotiations are progressing to secure a ground share agreement for next season to allow Edgware Town to compete in the Ryman Division One North, FA Trophy and FA Cup.

Funding has been secured to allow us to take up this opportunity to secure a future for Edgware Town.

The league have given us extended time to help us sort out our future as well as being supportive to our plight.

The players, to a man, have committed to the Club for next season and given that we are successful in our discussions the club will not die, in fact if we can get over this hurdle who knows what the future may hold.

I would personally like to thank all concerned for their dedication and loyalty to Edgware Town.

KEEP THE FAITH

Paul Gregory

Wader - Why are you giving Gavin such a hard time in a period of crisis for his Club, I'm sure he can do without it.

I wonderd that as well, he is also having a got me on another thread on the Ryman forum of this site.

Not sure if I have met him or not, I think I ruffled his feathers back when we played them and they were all cocky in the boardroom after the match with how much they said they had to spend this season....well good for them.

Obvioulsy they intend to do something, the new website is very smart and it looks like they are ambitous, and have Carlsberg on board as a sponsor and some others as well.

Fair play to them, they must have people who are willing to put in money and get sponsorship. Right now I am more concerned with having a football team, then we can take it from there.

Yes it could be another Browndog type situation although to be fair to Wader Browndog is on another planet in comparison and is simply a wind up merchant who probably doesn't even know who plays at Preston Park.

I think he might have a very good idea.

Lato - Do you know who Browndog is then.

I have a thought based on something he previously said. I could be totally wrong of course.

He seems a nasty piece of work whoever he is.

Not at all. You've misread the situation. Grown ups don't have to fall out because they don't agree on everything.

As far as your news today is concerned, that is terrific. Clearly some people have worked very hard in a short space of time to try and turnaround this tragedy. I still find it dumbfounding that the local authority gave planning to build on the WLG. A sad day indeed when the old girl falls to the developers diggers.

Best of luck with your endevours to revive your fortunes and start the new season in the Ryman 1 North. We are all rooting for your club to survive this crisis and although I am not sure how, if there is anything we can do we will try to help if asked.

Nice one HTFC, I have not heard who the groundshare will be with, but as long as we have a team I dont really care where it will be, obvioulsy I would presume its going to be local, and at ground that has at least an E grading for step 4.

As far as I am aware the majority if not all the squad from last season are willing to stay.

Gavin - The good will wishes on the another Forum continue unabated including from a Wealdstone fan so fair play:

As a Wealdstone supporter, I have to say I felt very sad about the news of Edgware Town FC. I hate to see any non-league teams go. I hope they can turn this around and wish them the best. During our groundsharing with them, I enjoyed going there and the atmosphere we created sometimes was electric. Sadly, this has all gone, now we are sharing with with Northwood. Just not possible to create an atmosphere there.

Heads up Edgware and you will turn this all around.

Nice to see Harrow Council doing their bit....as usual! Not!

Did you see the article in todays NLP? they quoted Steve Newing our manager and myself, after I had spoken to them in the week.

Hopefuly they can write a new story next week if the rescue package works out. Reading the headline 'Edgware Fold' was not nice frown
