as you say attracting better players who would demand more wages than us local lads (lads maybe not applying to me no more) who are still at the point where we just want to play football. Dolly & Dan were IMO good enough (assuming they were given say £125 a week contracts) to perform a good enough job for margate and in terms of the players they would have replaced (earning £300+ a week) would have given the club better value for money,

 

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if the club knew about the financial worries at the end of last season makes me worry why they let some of the cheaper talent go so easily

I totally agree with you but its now in the past and they are Ramsgate players, so Margates loss is there gain. It was'nt about money for either of them players they were just glad to play which unfortunatly Trotty did'nt seam to want to do.

As reserve player says, the financial concerns were starting to be evidenced from Feb. and RT knew his budget constraints prior to releasing the players, and/or not talikng more with them and encouraging them to stay put.

The biggest nonsense i read was about three weeks ago ,when RT stated that he was waiting for the pfa release list before signing players-as if full time professionals from the league and conf. national clubs are going to join us in the ryman. The words- 'planet' and 'on'- come to mind over that gem of a statement (if accurately repoted in the press)

 

A bit like announcing last November that he is signing a new striker and we finaly get Haworth in March.

 

I really want RT to succeed, but just fear he does not have the contacts,and selling skillls to get players to the club ;which are so vital in a manager.

 

Still-there is another way-by RT showing he is a fantastic coach and organiser, so lower standard players work a system and are so fit that it brings massive results.Getting the players working for him that they want to practice pre-season 4 times a week, and are so motivated by the opportunity and so well organised as a TEAM that we hit the ground running at start of season.

A great coach will be able to get everyone overachieving-lets hope RT is that man.There is always a way to succeed-just got to find it

Not 100% sure but there could be some last seasons u18s on first team fringe. Looks like a case of making the most of what we have. Think RP has it right. Looks like a big squad of u18s, could this be for cash? Hope after all this that the pitch holds up with all this rain.

Are stellon and vahinsberg or however its spelt still on the Margate scene ?

as far as i am aware, Daryn Vahinsberg, Paul Axon, Saul Anderton, Chaz Albrecht & Matt Bowles are training with the first team at the moment. Haven't heard or seen anything regarding Stellon so far but being that he does live further away might have an exclusion from training or could be on holiday etc.

Only saw three reserve games last season, but recall in last one that Anderton looked pretty effective-think he played centre back that day alongside Heath.

Good to hear those lads have been training with the first team. MM I wouldnt be too fixated with Stellon. He did nothing to impress me when I saw any reserve games last season and by the end of the season he was definitely overshadowed by these younger lads who came through from the u18s. All five of those RP has mentioned were u18s last season and glad to see they are stepping up to 1st team training.

good to heqr vanhisberg and axon staying, thought they were good last season and hopefully can progress. I heard Stellion was approached by Faversham Town over the summer, any rumour in this?

Stells was off to Uni I think, best of luck to you James, I agree with the above and as you know have an interest in Karl Barron doing well, lets hope all the lads come through in the right way.
