London Tigers were in the Premier of the Middlesex County Football League and could never get promoted.

They arranged to join Kingsbury Town and became Kingsbury London Tigers.

This meant that they rose 2 divisions without being in promotion positions.

Sure enough after one season, they dropped the Kingsbury bit and end up as London Tigers, having gone up 2 divisions without ever finishing in the top 2 in any season!!

Are there any other teams that have pulled a fast one like London Tigers and made a mockery of the promotion in the NLS?

Its something I've heard of for quite a while now, I am sure it goes back to when MK were looking for a team (merge local non league side with any FL side, move them to MK and play in the FL) which this rule is meant to stop.

A few years ago Luton were taken over by a nutter and one of his plans were to merge Luton and MK Dons and to play in Luton whilst taking MK Dons League place (in effect buying us a promotion as MK Dons were a division above us at the time) but he soon found out it was against the rules. That was about 4/5 years ago, perhaps it is just a Football League ruling though.

I have already commented on the fact that I think that London Tigers dropping the name Kingsbury is a disgrace. They obviously set out to take over the club, under the guise of Kingsbury London Tigers last season.

The club appears to have no connection whatsoever to the old Kingsbury Town FC, but you have to say if the locals were not interested in supporting their local team then rather then fold they have been taken over.

I dont agree with it, if the same had happened at Edgawre I would NOT have supported the new club as they have nothing whatsoever to do with the old club.

We merged with Tring Town a few seasons ago, but couldn't take their place in the Ryman League even if the facilities had been in place at the time. As an outsider I'd rather see a strong club go forward that a weak one struggle. Although I can understand those close to the old Kingsbury being upset. The guys at the club seemed a good bunch when we played there at the end of the season.

Tringarmy - The reason why you couldn't take Tring Town's place, was their a ruling that did not allow you to do that?

Sorry Tringarmy, but its not really the same is it? Tring still have a football club named after the area in which they play. Kingsbury no longer have a team that represents the area in which they play.

London Tigers could be anywhere in London, it sounds like it should be an Ice Hockey or Basketball team rather then a football team.

I wish the Tigers good luck and have nothing against them, but as Kingsbury are a local side to me, I am upset that the name will no longer be used to represent the football club, in any shape of form.

Gravesend have changed their name to Ebbesfleet, but that name still represents the area in which the club are playing.

If anything a better name would have been the North West London Tigers, or NW9 Tigers, that would have seen the name Tigers and the area/postcode in which the ground are situatied, even better the Silver Jubilee Lions has a good ring to it!

TT's clubhouse burnt down in the March / April & we merged in about the July. Obviously there wasn't enough time to get the facilities in place for the start of the season in August so the new club remained in the South Midlands. The Ryman League were sympathetic & clobbered us with a fine of about £3k for pulling out of the league without the appropriate notice period!! I just hope they don't do the same to Edgware if they are not successful in getting a groundshare agreement.
