Following the MISA meeting tonight I was approached by an individual who lives opposite the ground. Believing he was genuinely interested in the outcome I explained the sitation and our immediate hopes for the future. I also went on to explain the improvements to the bar and benefit of the five-a-side. At this point he lost interest and asked how long, and I quote 'will I have to look out on this shanty town from my house?' This from one of the new houses directly opposite the ground. When you have attitudes like this it does not surprise me that we lack real support from locals. Needless to say I did not rise to his outrageous comment, but felt I would post it on this site instead. I also made no other suggestions to him (such as moving). I am sure there will be much objection to this type of behaviour!!!Your comments please...

What would the chap want opposite his house (built in the last 20 years as opposed to the ground being there since 1929)

Would he like

a)A wide open park

b)The pyamids of Egypt

c)A 25 feet statue of our beloved Council Leader

d)More bleeding houses

e)The Turner Centre

If he dont like football must be a Spurs supporter.

Simple, the football ground was built and has existed alot longer than his house. A real Thanet person would appreciate that which brings me to the conclusion that he's a London businessman thats made his money and tried to settle in Thanet. No interest in the area at all probably.

Being a Margate lad and the fact that my family originate from Thanet for at least 6 generations i'd just like to say two things to him.

1. If you dont like it MOVE!

2. GET STUFFED!

Any feel better now!

P.S. I'd just like to add that I'm not sterio typing all Londoners that have moved down this way.

Up the Gate!

"I'm not sterio typing all Londoners that have moved down this way."

Why not!! The housing proposed for the Dreamland site has been designated for Londoners who would "use" the high speed rail link(a joke in itself) to commute to and from work or use them as second homes so not bring anything to the area.

The Rams have the same problems. It's a Thanet thing, anything which gives people pleasure and/or employment must be wrong and they write to the paper.

Why don't they just go back to East London or Chatham or whatever s***hole they moved from and let people in Thanet build a better place to live?

And yes I did move out to get an education and a good career which would only be possible by commuting to London or living up north but I don't slag off Thanet every 5 minutes.

I bet that it was the bloke who lives at the end.

The one that is leasing the extra ground connecting his house boundary to the cricket club.

I have it on good authority that he leased this agricultural land shortly after the lavish new plans for the ground went out, because he feared that the club would apply to the council to turn the land into car parking??
