I was quite pleased with the way we played today,i think we will really miss Barras and Gilkes.I still think we can improve but Barking were really poor today.I swear one day Wilko is gonna break somebodys legs.Keep it up Rebbels! I felt that Barking played some really good football at times - they always seem to give us a scare and to be honest, I don't know how we went into the break with a 2v1 lead (dodgy freekick awarded and Boot MUST have been offside for the second), but credit to the lads, we stepped up a gear after the break and ended up deserving the win overall, I thought.

 

A couple of points.. just can't help thinking that Dean Palmer would be better utilised in right centre midfield as he does have an alarming tendancy of late to get pulled way out of position / lose posession at right back. But I guess we have enough midfielders at the moment.

 

It was nice to see Darron Wilkinson getting stuck in alongside Metcalfe.. two similar players but today it seemed to work.. too many times this season, the midfield has been overrun and I think we pretty much held our own there against Barking.

 

I like the new signing Craig Rocastle too.. looks like he knows how to beat a man too, which is never a bad thing.

 

Let's just hope we can keep this spirit going for Maidenhead.. I'd like to see this new boy Hodges on the bench and perhaps keep Wilkinson/Metcalfe in to battle on the notorious pitch instead of a fleetfooted Ryan Williams. We'll need to battle so I think players like Palmer, Metcalfe, Wilkinson and Winston are essential.
