Great news! Charlie Mac always played better when Mark was in the side because, as Liam said he (Mark) would put the ball in places where Charlie wanted it. Perhaps he will be do the same for Chukki and Luke. Also, Mark is always a threat at dead ball situations and anywhere in open play within 30 yards of goal.

A class act.

Let us pray he can get, and more importantly stay really fit.

Now LD must look for that elusive ingredient, a pair of forwards who can strike up a good understanding with not only themselves, but with Chukki.

Perm 2 out of 3 each game will give them all around 30 odd games, enough to keep everyone happy.

What MUSTN'T happen is for one to be a permanent benchwarmer, coming on to try and turn the game in the 87th minute.

I was debating this the other day, as to whether we should still wear the Gravesend & Northfleet shirts. It's Ebbsfleet United we are supporting, not Gravesend & Northfleet. On the other hand, it is the same club, with the same nickname, only a different name.

I'll be wearing my Gravesend & Northfleet shirt to the friendlies, only until I purchase the EUFC shirt.

Glad I have "The Fleet 4 Life" on the back. smile

You do have some cracking ideas C.G. So you are only planning on fielding your best side for one third of the season.

How many points do you expect to lose while your star goal scorer is on the bench to avoid upsetting your third choice striker?

Sodje left because he couldn't get a decent run in the team.

We were always left with Charlie + 1.

Unless we get an extraordinary new striker on a par with MacDonald, what is wrong with keeping 3 strikers fresh, fit and eager, knowing they are not going to spend 30 games on the bench, usually coming on for 5 minutes?

You don't know that, isn't it just as likely that York offered him a lot more money? After all I'm sure that there are teams a bit closer to home that would have offered me more starts if that were the only reason

Well it is good that De Bolla has signed on for another year, still feel the Fleet need a few more people in, but no doubt that Liam has some irons in the fire and maybe some players lined up to play in the friendly's so he can have a look at them. I think it is more imporatant to build a strong squad and that is what seems to be happenning. So roll on next month!!!!

I will never be convinced that money is the main motivation for an 18 year old trying to break into the professional game.
He will NEVER impress ANYONE spending his career on the bench.
If Bromley Town had offered equal pay, but the chance to play regularly, I'm sure he would have considered it!

He may well secure a number of new signings as a result of impressing in pre-season friendlies, but I sincerely hope that he is not leaving the urgent signing of a replacement for Charlie Macdonald until the friendlies? It is extremely doubtful that the club will pick-up a replacement 20 goal a season striker from pre-season trials.

I hope that you are right and LD does have some "irons in the fire" with regard to the signing of Macdonald's replacement. Sooner rather than later as well!

Well local media reported he was closing in on a striker and these "pre-season trials" don't consist of enthusiastic young park players, they're ex-league players who have only justr been released by their clubs... some of whom last season included Stacy Long, Mark De Bolla, Onome Sodje, Lance Cronin, Mark Ricketts and Liam Coleman. Looking at that list, I'd be quietly confident about unearthing two or three decent signings from trials.
