Mark Debolla

According to "The Distorter" he may have left it too late. Apparently, he had consistently turned down the contract offer, then suddenly said he'd sign, by which time we'd already signed Neil Barrett.

Liam says Bollers had always been his first choice, but with a replacement signed he might not be able to take him on now with budget limits to be met & 2 forwards a priority.

Its always a dangerous game holding out on a contract presumably hoping for a better deal, so easy to find yourself looking for a new position elsewhere as it appears Mr. Debolla's just found out. Let's hope his replacement's up to the job.

Luke Moore finished the season playing in Marks position and looked pretty effective doing it.
Marks performances for the first two months of last season would warrant a place in the starting line-up but he didn't show that much after his injury.
I suppose it comes down to what you can afford, we need a striker more than we need another midfielder but it would be nice to have both.

Just one???

We've lost two, Macdonald and Sodje and also Keeling, We need at least two forwards not another midfielder.

It looks like DeBolla was trying to call Daish's bluff by getting either a better deal elsewhere or more from the 'Fleet and failed.

As he does appear to be somewhat injury prone, I would not re-sign him but put the money to better use....ie replacements for Macdonald and Sodje.

Not the quickest but when playing in midfield he allways seemed to have a little more time than some to look up and see what was on both left and right and pick a pass. Early season goals were invaluable, certainly worth retaining if we can.

Remember we lost MacDonald through injury for most of the first season, but came good in the end.DeBolla, providing he remains fit, should be in the squad. The one I have reservations about is Chukki Eribenne, not a lot of pace, and loose's the ball a lot when in possession.Still L.D. seems to rate him.

I agree. I think Chukki has great potential. When he came in last season it was obvious that he was second fiddle to Charlie and he was more supplier than finisher. I would like to see him now with the responsibility of being the main man to get the goals.

To explain what I said in more detail, Chukki was not the best of strikers when he joined us for the concluding part of last season, but there were certain parts of his game I was impressed with, such as dealing with aerial ball situations and his passing I was impressed with (his ability to spot other players running into space).

Let's give Chukki a chance to prove himself and, you never know, he may become another Charlie Mac. grin

I was honestly really impressed with Chukki from what I saw of him. His presence in the air will definitely be an asset to us, and for a big fella he can dribble and turn well. I think he'll play a big part this year, weighing in with goals of the support striker number, maybe 10-15 : )
