Todays game

Well, I've just got back from Telford. After being out of the game for long periods in the first half and going down to a goal when we could have cleared our lines, we improved vastly in the second half.

Following the fine penalty save from Wilko (other referees may have sent Strouts off for his foul, considering that he was already on a yellow card) and a one-on-one chance just before it which they put wide, we ran the game for about 20 minutes to half and hour.

Tostao (on as sub) forced a fine save from the Telford 'keeper with an excellent 25-yard chip, and our hard work was rewarded with a good finish from just inside the box by Wilko (Craig, not Paul grin.gif). However, we conceded another unfortunate goal soon afterwards, and in the end Telford's clinical finishing won them the day.

The crushing news is of a leg injury to Jacko which led to him being stretchered off towards the end. Reports we received while on the supporters' coach told us that the swelling on his leg is too great at present for a proper diagnosis, but unfortunately he did look in some pain when he went down. frown.gif

Three bookings today (over our required average to avoid a fine frown.gif), the last of which was a needless tug back by Tostao - we really must eradicate these. Overall, though, a good performance in the second half is encouraging for Burton next week. smile.gif

P.S. Simon Parker made a brief sub appearance upon his return to the club, but didn't have long enough to make an impact.
