Winding up order

I cannot register on the Margate board at the moment - but have just heard from a 100 per cent reliable source that Margate have failed to keep up with their CVA payments - and, as such, the Inland Revenue have served up a winding up order on the club.

Can the Margate board of directors make a statement to let their fans know what is going on?

Ive seen this on the Ryman forum, what is going on??

June are trying to say that you are not in the slightest bit worried. If this is true then it is going to be a huge smack in the face for some people including yourself.

Something needs to be done and quickly if this is true.

I am remainin skeptical, but extremely worried about our future.

This rumour has reached the Dover forum.

Quite frankly the last post on the thread is scary...Justin Allen, the poster has no reason to want to lie about this and is a very reliable source for info.

I think its time we starting taking things a bit more seriously.

New rumour circulating:

We are £2 million in debt, which if we put that into numbers would look like this.

-£2,000,000

That was fron TAFCMike on the Ryman forum

----------------------------------------------------------------

Yes i know that these are only rumours, but people will not be making up rumours that are very strong especially when it is not concerning there club.

Well if this does turn out to be the case and i really prey it isnt, its not really a big suprise is it?

This was a, all or nothing season, the last roll of the dice and it looks like we may have lost.

I have all ways looked at this season as a last roll of the dice a all or nothing season and now its starting to look like we could falter at the final hurdle or two, what happens to the club then we certianly havent got any where near the cash from the gates for what are squad must be costing a week so far this season so what happens next season... will we have arrears from the previous season hanging over the clubs head from a failed promotion push that would push the club in to a new dark age!!

Perhaps im being a bit melodramatic but still it really does worry me that we could end up in situation similar to a few seasons ago where we run the risk of losing our club.

There are a lot of wealthy people in the area but tbh it would be very hard to get them to invest in to the football club.

Football clubs seem a very hard thing to run at a profit and thats all they will be intrested in unless they genuinly have love for the club or see real potential to make money somewere.

Ps. im not posting these quote's as a told you so, as usally most of the "crap" i post is just "crap", but when i am right god it's always [****!!****] shity.

Alex, it is not that I am not in the least bit worried. If it is true, then I have just thrown my season ticket money away, and it is a sum I can ill afford. Not to mention the whole ties that bind me to this club, and my friends in it. If it is not true that kind of speculation could be extremely damaging to the club. But it is the bit about immediately believing one of the 'have it on good authority merchants' on forums that annoys me.

I think we all know that we constantly teeter on the edge of destruction and have done for years. But I have never been one for self-flagellation over something that has not happened yet.

but also from the dover Forum

'BB, somebody called White_Army posted it on the Ryman forum under Kent footy fan - Got instantly rumbled, then all of a sudden this "new" voucher guy appeared and said the same thing - ignoring requests for sources. A wind up methinks.'

All of us fans that support Margate will be desperately hoping that all the above is some kind of sick wind-up. However if the rumours are true, then the cat is well and truly out of the bag, if the club does indeed monitor this forum, they can't possibly ignore this post and all the concerns of the fans contained within it. They surely must reply to it URGENTLY - THEY REALLY MUST CONFIRM OR DENY THE SITUATION TODAY.

The poster called Justin is normally a very reliable source of info as Teabarmark said on the first page of this thread. I'd say the post below that he made is the most worrying / likely to be true...

"This is not a rumour. Margate have failed to keep up with their CVA payments. I've checked this out and it's true. The Inland Revenue have applied for a winding up order. I'm surprised the Margate board have not made a statement.

Sad day for Kent football if Margate are to fold. Hope they can sort something out."

But from yesterdays web site news was the following -
Quote:
The Directors also confirm that our main contractor for the 5 a-side centre has been rescheduled to commence work on Monday 16 July 2007, the contract period for the works is 12 weeks.

So if the club was going to be wound up, why would the works start - would be pointless surely??

Me thinks April 1st just a little too late....

Justin Allen the guy on the Dover forum works for The Sun tabloid newspaper. He's a Dover fan and also runs the Dover website. Very reliable usually, he doesn't like saying any news unless it's concrete. He's done some digging and found this all to be true. As AB says we need a statement from the club today so the fans have a chance to try and help.

The winding up order is apparently a public matter now.
