The Blues management team has today been extended with the appointment of Jim Stannard as Head Coach. Jim is a former professional goalkeeper with Fulham and Gillingham and has previously served Redbridge as Manager, he is currently goalkeeping coach with both Leyton Orient and Gillingham.

Ten facts about Jim Stannard:

1 – Born Harold Hill October 6th 1962

 

2 – Started his career in 1980 playing non-league football for Ford United

 

3 – Began his professional career with Fulham but only managed 41 appearances in five years – however, during this period he was loaned out to both Southend United and Charlton Athletic.

 

4 - In 1985 Southend signed him on a permanent basis and he went on to make over 100 appearances for them.

 

5 – However, in 1987 Fulham bought him back to Craven Cottage and for the next eight years was their first-choice keeper, making nearly 350 appearances and even managing to score one goal.

 

6 – Became one of the first signings by Gillingham manager Tony Pulis’ in 1995

 

7 – Helped the Kent club to promotion from Division Three in the 1995-96 season

 

8 – In that promotion campaign he let in 20 goals a record for a 46-match league season. He also

kept 29 clean sheets.

 

9 - Forced to retire in 1999 due to injury and later served as goalkeeping coach at Gillingham and Brentford.

 

10 – Returned to Ford United – by then known as Redbrdge to manage the club for the period January to October 2005.

interesting appointment and a very good one....

 

the changes at barking should be an alarm bell for other esl teams as apart from the on field experience of ross.. stringer and stanard both stringer and ross are businessmen and dave ross in particular has big money if he chooses to spend it...

 

most interesting also that deadbeat starts the thread.... grin
