Hockton off but money not going to the budget

Just heard from a very reliable source that Hockton is off to a Conf club (which I won't name on here) and we are getting a large sum. However, Trotty wont be seeing any of this as the club want it to go towards the cost of the 5 a sides. Also Trotty has a much smaller budget in comparison to last season and it is proving difficult to get the players. The club are showing a lack of ambition and are really tieing his hands.

This is from a reliable source IMO and no I wont dismiss it out of hand as a rumour if anyone tells me to.

Grays seem to be favourites according to the NLP on Sunday.

As for any money going towards the budget...I wouldn't have expected it to anyway.

I was under the impression that the money was already in place for the 5-a-sides(that was what I was led to believe anyway,or so I thought)& maybe thats where the problem "lies" with delay after delay in getting work started on them. The money WASN'T there & delays have been made(many different reasons)only to stall for such times that such monies DO became available.

Sorry GEEBEE, you got in there just before me with the same thought. Were these reasons, are these reasons for the delays really true or IS it purely just about the money not being available.I notice with the new statement it says another 4 weeks (PENDING) so it could well take even longer then.

I agree with UU. Gary Lever said the five-a-side centre would cost about £500,000. Now - as good as goalscorer as Danny Hockton is, and as profligate as Mark Goldberg was at Selhurst Park - I doubt that Danny will go for much more than £20,000 (not that we'll ever find out, undisclosed fees and all that). In other words the fee will be inconsequential compared with the cost of the five-a-side centre. Sounds like propaganda to stop various clubs asking for too high a price when we bid for their players. Mentioning no names, mind...

I agree too with Uncs & CE, we are reading too much into this imo. We already know Trotty's budget was less than less year so whats really new?

I would not expect the transfer fee to go into the wages budget but, remember that we payed a fee for Danny in the first place so that money needs to be reimbused to whoever unlocked the moth trap.

However, Dannys wages should still be in the wages budget and, should be used for new players.

Whoever it is BB, the money we get for him will be peanuts in the grand scheme of things as said previously. However it does free Danny's wages up for Trotty as Joseba said.

Im with you but the club refuse to give Trotty the money back to buy another striker or to increase the budget?? they want to keep the transfer fee because they are shelling out for the 5 a side pitches. So that means we are settling for midtable as far as I can see. The positive we do get is the likes of Karl Barron will probably get their chance in the squad.

The fee we are getting is peanuts compared to the 500k so why don't the club just put it onto the wage budget at the very least + Dannys wages as well of course. That might give Trotty license to bring in 2 or 3 players

My personal view is, the youngsters will have a great chance of a break through this next season. I personally believe we have a reservoir of talent in last seasons under 18's that has yet to be properly recognised by the Club. Know he has retired from the playing first team, i hope Trotty takes more time out to watch; encourage; and possible have a game with them.

I would also like to see not only the best youngsters from Thanet but also from Canterbury; Herne Bay; Whitstable etc, coming to the club. To build a Soccer Academy, to provide ( possibly along with the Generation Sports/Ursuline College?) something that would supply Margate with Talent for years to come as we work our way back up the league, and something that we as Margate fans can be proud of. Personaly i am sad we are not planning a undercover training facility in the plans.

its all speculation and scaremongering.when hockton is sold the money should go back into the club in one form or another, wheather its to buy players or pay debts? the bottom line we have a new season coming up with trotty having less money All we can do is get behind them and support them.

Thats right I mean who knows maybe we will pull of a shock and finish quite High in the league. Anyways as long as we don't get relegated and finish above Ramsgate then its been a good season for me.

I should think that the money recieved for hockton is already spent! I don't think any of the devolopment comes into it. We all know how most football clubs operate. Without a commercial income most football clubs these days are not self sufficient. I don't think next seasons gonna be about title chasing. Mid table, developing young and reserve players, and consolidating our position seems to be where its at right now!

I reckon your synopsis of next season is about right Eyeball.

Problem is, we will then have Dover and dartford in the premier the following season,Maidstone growing strong-and all of a sudden ,in 2008/9 we will be well down the pecking order of Kent clubs.

Lets face it-last season was the best and only chance to get out of this league for about 4/5 seasons and we blew it big time.

I'll keep on supporting and enjoying, but mid table mediocrity is our statue for next few seasons .

You can't blame the Board for not wanting to spend the money again.

At least we should continue to exist -unlike a few clubs !!

I'll keep on supporting and enjoying just the same.
