New Non League Football show on BBC London

I'm glad to see that you are quoting your source for this message, namely that this is a posting lifted directly off the another forum. I assume you got their permission to copy it on to here.

I think I explained that I am currently unable to post direct links for some reason but to be honest I think Sjj2112 is just looking for excuses to have a dig. I did get permission to make the post actually, from Caroline Barker who hosts the Non League show, I have thrown Hector Varela's hat in the ring to take part on Monday 21 July when the programme returns so, like I said, watch this space.

You can think of it as having a dig if you want, I would view it as more of a point of principle. If anybody is going to copy somebody elses words in a different place then it is only common decency to ask their permission first. From a personal point of view it was only by chance that I found what I posted on TKs site had been copied on to here, with subsequent comments by others that I felt I had a right to respond to.

You do not need to be able to post links, all that you need to do is either before or after the copied text include the following:

Originally posted by X on Y and copied here with their permission.

It's as simple and courteous as that. Person X then has a chance to see where their text is apearing and monitor it where appropriate. If somebody feels that it may not have been copied with permission then they are able to go to X and ask if they knew that they were being quoted on another website / forum.

I am no lawyer but I am fairly sure that the copyright of any text remains with the author unless they explicitly waive that right. Copying without permission is therefore an offence, and from my limited reading around the subject I believe forum owners / moderators can be held just as liable for the publishing of copyrighted material.

In this instance, Rhodes, I give you credit that you had sought permission to post the information on this forum, but unless you actually mention the relevent credits then this fact is not obvious to anybody reading the post. (Also asuming, of course, that should anybody choose to contact Caroline that she will confirm you sought permission - before you posted it and not retrospectively in response to my subsequent posting.)

I think if you asked everyone on another's Forum whether they minded their posts being used on other Forums such as this one in order to illustrate strong feeling or whatever the case might be they would have no objection whatsoever, it's only you who seems to have the problem. As for asking their permission first I wouldn't have an issue with it so why would anyone else, besides you could ask somone's permission and then wait forever and a day for them to get back to you. No I think you are just someone who enjoys coming onto Forums such as this one and stiring up a hornets nest for no reason, you never needed to come on here at all following your ill fated visit to the Copthall Stadium and you could have easily stayed in the comfort zone of Mr Kempster's Forum where nobody says boo to a goose.

Rhodes you are completely wrong here, you've been told how to post links on numerous occasions but choose to ignore the policy and etiquette of this site.

NeutralFan - I can't post links for some reason, otherwise I would do so, when I try it just comes out as text and you are unable to click into it.

It was good to see you on Friday by the way, you were on good form.

Interesting reply to my post. The only point in which you are mentioned is at the end when I congratulate you for doing the right thing - everything else is a generic posting which applies to all forum users and I would suggest that a posting about internet etiquette is hardly stirring up a hornets nest.

Just because you would have no problem with someone quoting your words elsewhere doesn't mean that everybody would feel the same way. If you can't get permission to quote anothers post then you shouldn't post it - it's not rocket science.

As to the final comments surely you are just contradicting yourself. If I am somebody that likes going on forums to stir things up then why should I stick to a forum where, according to you, nobody stirs things up?

And, again, tell me exactly where I have said that my visit to the Copthall Stadium was "ill fated." You have, in your own inimitable way, used this phrase on a number of occasions without backing it up.

I am not sure if rhodes has in fact said you said ill fated its something he said, when I say said I mean posted, but the point remains valid in my humble opinion. In any event it is impossible to stir up a hornets nest on the internet, that would require something like a large wooden spoon and of course a hornet's nest. Depending on where the apostrophe is put this could be a nest for a group of hornets or one nest for one hornet, and Bill Oddie hasnt brought this up on sh@gwatch yet, and I am unaware of the hornet population in north London or its nesting habits. I doubt even rhodes does despite his familiarity with the Tottenham allotments scene.

In any event any potential stirring of nests is indeed completely different from posting about internet etiquette, and very far removed from saying boo to a goose, for which I got thrown out of Safeways. or was it strangeways?

Rhodesy please note that anything you copy and paste on here from the another Forum may be removed unless you have permission from the author to do so. Post a link, learn how to post a link (click on the 'create a link to a webpage' symbol above, add the url and then add something like 'click here' when the next box pops up). Failing that just post the text link.

You can easily copy and paste url's by highlighting with your mouse what you want to copy. Then press the keyboard 'ctrl' key - hold this down and press 'c' to copy. Then press 'ctrl' again - hold down and this time press 'v' to paste in the appropriate box/place. Try experimenting with this in a word document if you like. Ta.

TK has stated in the past that he doesn't want anyone to copy/paste from his forum (presumably even with the consent of the author). Each post on there has a shortcut button next to it. All Rhodes has to do is right click on the word shortcut, chose copy link location, then paste it wherever he wants.

Rhodes,
How are you getting along with Caroline ?
I understand the last time you met, she was quite forward and even offered something more than an interview, from what you posted.

Well, If you want my tuppence, I rad into that, that she is interested in speaking to Kenny Dyer, she stays up quite late on Monday nights, after the show (is it still on in the summer ?) and she knows you to be a very hospitable person, who can achieve things (like getting the great Kenny Dire's phone number)

By the sounds of it I think someone had asked Caroline for 'the great' Kenny Dyer's phone number after the show last Monday and she didn't want to disappoint them, it was flattering that she thought of me but we do have regular contact albeit by e-mail and text, whether it will go any further than that remains to be seen but I like to think that it might.

Despite recent posts on this forum, I am sure many posters would want you to go further duck
