Spursfan - Many thanks for that, I seem to have quite a few allies such as Uncle Urchin, Bitch, Wader, Socrates and your good self but if I get on certain people's nerves then I apologise, it's certainly not my intention to do so.

3praise - Strangely enough I originally included Kanu in the list but deleted him as he wasn't an allie of mine in the true sense of the word. I have been trying to find his one and only legendary post on here without success so I can re-post it but I will keep searching, as you know I am like a dog with a bone and never ever give up, Terminator style.

I think the story falls between the extremese. Temile definitely featured in our Nigerian national youth and senior teams in the 1980's and to anyone who was growing up in that time he is indeed a legend and a guy we remember fondly like anyone reveres the football heroes of their childhood. The "Paul Scholes" analogy I find interesting but I dont think Scholes could ever dribble, speed or of play the wing like Temile. That said, while Temile was a decent scorer from deep, he wasnt any where near as clinical as Scholes.

That period of the mid-late 1980's by the way, was part of a golden era in our domestic league. Our coaches and players were reaching heights not acheived before and the league was developing a tremendous amount of depth and competitiveness. And yet the players hadn't yet started going abroad en masse. So we were spoiled for great football - competitive and entertaining stuff week in week out.

Temile did not reach the club heights of say a Finidi or Kanu, who have won the European Cup with Ajax, but he was a key part of teams that were competing for African club honors at a time when most of the best African players were there in Africa still - not in the European champions league. He was coached by some of the finsest coaches we have had and he played along side guys like Stephen Keshi, former Anderlecht and Nigerian captain who led the team in 1994 world cup. Had Africa more than one spot in the world cup back them, I have no doubt Temile would have been in the World cup in his time too.

Nonetheless that was two decades ago and he seems to have moved on to a different phase of life - bringing his on the field knowledge and experience to coaching. So I'm certainly looking forward to it - and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Rhodesy boy you are a legend.

I wasn't referring to someone else finding Kanu's post for me, I was referring to the above although no doubt you and 'Sugar' will beg to differ and he will be too busy finding ways to ban me from the Forum when his time would be better spent in trying to progress his Club and get them back in the Premier Division.
