No more Kingsbury :(

I see from the SSML site that the name Kingsbury has been dropped altogether from the title, and they will now be known as the London Tigers

 

Seems a real shame that a team should lose the name from which the area it plays in.

 

I doubt that this latest change will attract any new locals to see the team play.

Couldn't agree more. Mick, the secretary reckons they'll be a strong side this coming season though.

I think they will do ok, but there are a number of sides who could challenge and it should make the SSML a lot more competitive this season.

London Tigers seem to have a strong backing from Central Government sources but losing the 'Kingsbury' name is disappointing:

Well they prob see them as an 'ethnic' project thus giving their full backing to them. Then again Ken Livingston is a dick of the highest order so anything he backs I would not worry about too much!

 

Its obvious that Kingsbury have been sold down the river, thus losing any identity their had with the local area. I would imagaine most Kingsbury fans (there was a few) will feel isolated by the new club, maybe I am wrong, I just feel that Kingsbury have been taken over, and even if the LT should get future success it will be under their banner and NOT that of Kingsbury Town.

 

It would be interesting to see what the views of any Kingsbury fans are, isnt KTFC a Kingsbury fan who posts on here?

You would have to agree, though no doubt the LT board would say they are going to improve and maybe move up the league, but they HAVE taken over a club at a higher level then just got rid of that club altogether!

 

I wonder if there is anyone on the LT board who were part of the old Kingsbury Town?

Their representative at the AGM yesterday was a Kingsbury Town man.

Not very happy at all to tell the truth. I will still go to watch them as will the other occasional fans I know but it certainly wont get the already appathetic locals along.

 

We had two decent Vase runs in the final two seasons as Kingsbury Town and crowds did improve (slightly). Now if anyone sees London Tigers they wont know where the hell they come from.

 

I take 'London' is enough to signify a link to the 'local' area?

 

Might start taking a large flag with Kingsbury written on it next season

Who owns the Kingsbury Town ground? Kingsbury Town or London Tigers? Or Brent council?

Not sure, but prob the council I would assume.

As I understand it the ground is owned by Brent Council.

Those were the days! Going to Lowestoft and being slagged off by 300+ people

Gavin - I paid out £250 for a Haringey Borough flag for their Centenary which was supposed to fly proudly from the mast situated at the car park end of the ground. 3praise - What on earth are you talking about, you know full well that the Club didn't buy it and I paid the £250 out of my own pocket, 'Sugar' and co were never the slightest bit interested in the flag which is full size with the Club's crest and 1907 emblazened on it, why would they suddenly want it now.

i was simply asking if you paid for it or the club did - if the club did then its their property and so would want it back!

Haringey Borough FC didn't exist until 1976.

because you supposedly bleed Yellow and Green!! I can imagine now the shrine you must have in your house - making the kids kiss the flag before dinner!!
